Hi Anne,

I saw the pics that you posted of . It looks to be really

successful. We have this ahead of us...Can u tell me, is it common for

a sling to break? and what causes it?

What a gorgeous little boy! and thankyou for commenting on my " cheeky

little pigtail package " we will be sure to look after her!

No, it is not that common for a sling to break

although it is a risk. Our surgeon explained that

with bleph you are trying to strike a balance of

making the sling somewhat tight to give the lid more

lift above the pupil. But, unfortunately, you are

working against the fact that there is no muscle at

all to support the sling and gravity pulling it down

as well. He feels this time we were able to give

lift without it being so tight that the

slings will snap and break. So far (2 months

post-surgery), it seems like we've gotten a good

balance. We are not sure what caused the sling to

break nor is our surgeon sure; however, he speculated

that the sling may have been pulled too tight. Hope
