Guest guest
All leucovorin is is a brand of folic acid. My rheumetologist never suggested that there was a particular timing to taking folic acid in conjunction with MTX. In fact, folic acid was prescribed to me to take daily while on the MTX. It wasn't the MTX that gave me fatigue, it was the drugs prescribed for nausea (lorazepam, then zofran). --- web63 <web63@...> wrote: > I see alot of posting about fatigue using > Methotrexate (MTX). > No one mentions that 12 hours after taking your shot > for Methotrexate > you should take a 5 mg Leucovorin. Guest guest
, I don't have fatigue with Methotrexate but another board I follow at Arthritis Insight has lots of people who have fatigue from Methotrexate. Many take in on Friday night to be able to sleep off part of the fatigue and not interfere with the work week. (I don't know what they do for fun and relaxation if the weekend is shot.) Good luck and God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: Matthies Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Wednesday, May 14, 2003 6:17 PM Subject: methotrexate and fatigue Hi everyone. I had a quick question. I've read the side effects of methotrexate and while fatigue is listed, it's not a biggie. However, I'm exhausted on the day I take methotrexate and extremely fatigued the next day as well. Every other day I'm pretty OK. Does anyone else experience this or am I maybe chalking up the fatigue to the wrong drug? I'm more curious than anything... fatigue is better than pain and so far methotrexate seems to be helping, even with tapering down on prednisone. I'm crossing my fingers. Thanks everyone. Guest guest
Hi .........I've taken methotrexate on Fridays cuz I spent the next two days close to home to sleep (cuz of extreme fatigue) and stay close to the bathroom. I feel like I lost my social life. I was finally put on Enbrel two weeks ago. I'm doing a happy dance now.....skeptical that my energy is back as I don't remember in two years....and haven't been living in bathroom too on past two weekends... Please stay hopeful!!!!!!!! Hugs and prayers for you.......Sandy From: " Matthies" Reply-Rheumatoid Arthritis Rheumatoid Arthritis Subject: methotrexate and fatigue Date: Thu, 15 May 2003 01:17:25 -0000 Hi everyone. Guest guest
, Like Harold, I do not seem fatigued by the methotrexate, we are all different. I also have read of others at Arthritis Insight about being fatigued. I started out taking the dosage on Friday in the evening because of the side effects, but I never had any, so found for me it made no difference. I am doing well on it so far!!! Guest guest
I am still on Methotrexate, have been for almost 9 years. I still take it on Friday to rest but in the past few years, I haven't been tired after taking it. At first, I had fatique but it disappeared. Mehtotrexate is working for me (mostly) and I'm too afraid to try anything else as I do want to have kids someday soon and am afraid of the side effects of these newer medicines on me and a fetus. At least Methotrexate has been around since the 50's. I'm just fearful, I guess. - > , I don't have fatigue with Methotrexate but another board I follow at Arthritis Insight has lots of people who have fatigue from Methotrexate.
