Guest guest
Hi , I am sorry but you have been misinformed. The doctors in Belgium CAN do tests to see whether you have Type I or Type II. I found out that I am Type II. Before my blood was sent to the University of Ghent in Belgium, they told me that, I believe it was 70%, of the tests work and 30% fail. In other words in 30% of the people they are unable to tell them whether they are Type I or Type II. I was happy that I was one of the 70% that they were able to tell me which type I had. Take care, Restoule, Ontario, Canada <parsonsfamily108@...> wrote: Hi My daughter had her blood tested in Belgium. It was sent off in Oct '06 and we got the result in Feb '07. It just confirms that she has BPES. There is no genetic test to tell which type of BPES is present. We will have to get our daughters hormone levels monitored after puberty to see if they get POF.There details are (I have taken it directly from their letterhead): Centrum voor Medische Genetica, Universitair Ziekenhuis, OK5 - De Pintelaan 185, B-9000, Gent, Belgium.Phone: 09 2403603, Fax 09 2404970. The head of the Department is Prof Anne De Paepe.Web address http:medgen.ugent.beThey will do mutation analysis in the FOXL2 gene to confirm the clinical diagnosis of BPES.Regards ParsonsHarrogate (UK)>> Hello,> I have a daughter that is 6 months old and i want to find out if she > has type 1 or type 2 BLEPH but i am uncertain of what the test is > called that she needs and when i talked to her dr today he was unsure > of what test to order to find out because she is his only patient with > this condition so if anyone out there knows the name of the test she > needs to find out what type she has please let me know.
