Guest guest
Hi No I have never smoked due to being asthmatic (sp?) so it definitely wasn't a link for us as we have a daughter aged 4 who is the first in the family to have BPES. Hope this helps Regards Lucy (Hampshire, UK) From: bbygirl1623 <bbygirl1623@...>Subject: blepharophimosis I have a question for parents who have a child or children with bpes....blepharophimosis Date: Thursday, 23 July, 2009, 10:39 PM I have a question for parents who have a child or children with bpes, but do not have bpes themselves. I was wondering if anyone smoked cigarettes before becoming pregnant or even during pregnancy. I know that cigarettes can cause birth defects and somebody told me that it could cause bpes. Guest guest
Hi, I never smoked,my husband never smoked;neither of our parents smoked or anyone near us smoked. We are really a non-smoking family:) but our son has BPES and he is the one and only in our family. When I was pregnant(but didn't know I was) I dyed my hair by myself;it was smelling really bad I remember.I always think this happened because of that day. When I read about BPES it usually writes coincidence.I really wonder if there is a reason or not. Guest guest
Hi Please put this thought out of your mind. I am sure that the person who spoke to you was well intentioned. However, perhaps it is inappropriate to speculate when they have no medical evidence to support a suggestion that smoking and BPES are related. A good all round source of information is here: http://www.geneclinics.org/servlet/access?db=geneclinics & site=gt & id=8888891 & key=yvyThuThGZXK5 & gry= & fcn=y & fw=suti & filename=/profiles/bpes/index.html There is no mention of smoking leading to BPES. Guest guest
Hi, I have not posted for a long time, but I had my son Marc 36 years ago he was the first in our family and I never smoke in my life. It has taken me until my Grandson Alfie was born 3 years ago to fined out anything about blephs. I am so gratefull for the site, I now don't feel on my own as I did for all those years of never knowing anyone else with blephs. I know I don't post but I do read and keep up.
