Guest guest
Hi all Our 2 year old daughter Shanti had sling surgery at Moorfields just before Christmas. All the stitches absorbed without a problem except for one on the forehead above her right eye. A small lump has formed, which I am told is called a suture granuloma. The scab came off the lump once but has since healed over again but the lump seems to be forming again which I assume means that the stitch has still not been absorbed. It's not really infected but is sore. Of course what we should do is go back and get it checked at Moorfields, but.. we live in Nigeria at the moment and I've had not much luck at all getting anyone to talk to at Moorfields on the phone. We've seen an opthalmologist here who thought we could probably leave it until we are back in UK in the summer, we don't want her to have it cut out here (which would mean a general anaesthetic) unless absolutely necessary. Does anyone else have experience of this? Is it likely to go away by itself? (it's been around for over a month now). Is she likely to have a bigger scar there if it is cut out? or if we leave it a few more months? Thanks for any advice! Tessa
