Her doctor recommended that we have her in goggles any time we are in the pool, which we planned on anyways. We have had her in the pool with child standard goggles on (they have little Disney characters all over them). We have noticed that they tend to leave red weltish marks around her eyes (and they fog up before we even get to the pool). It looks extremely painful, but she doesn't cry and the marks go away in about an hour. We tried loosening the goggles a bit, but then it lets the chlorine water in. Does anyone know a good style or brand name of swim goggles we can look for? T has had the sling surgery and a replacement sling surgery a couple months ago, so they want us to be careful not to use one that will apply too much pressure to the slings.Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as she is a little water baby and wants to swim all the time.AnnColorado USA
Guest guest
I have not tried the Aqua Sphere goggles/mask yet but I will look for them. has been wearing some kid size speedo goggles that are also shaded as he complains about how bright it is at the pool. They work "ok" but I do think a mask/goggles would be better as the goggles seem to be sometimes lining up improperly on his little head. He starts swim lessons next week so I'm going to look for the Aqua Sphere goggle/mask. Thanks for addressing the topic as I've often wondered how others are dealing with swimming. has never been as into the pool and swimming as his siblings and I have not pushed it in part because I was always concerned that the chlorinated water might be bothering him.Good luck! --Anne Weber-- Chicago, IL, USA From: "rainamint@..." <rainamint@...>blepharophimosis Sent: Fri, June 25, 2010 4:36:15 AMSubject: Re: blepharophimosis Need Advice for Swimming Lessons aedan now wears goggles that I like ( they make em in kidsize too ) they are between googles and a mask and are perfect! Guest guest
Someone else has mentioned those aqua sphere goggles to me just this morning, and I did look them up online. They look like they would be perfect! I like that they come shaded too. Rainamint, good luck to Aedan with his surgery! Anne, definitely check them out. They look like they will fit completely around the eyes without pressing on the slings. I'm waiting on a call back from the company to find out where they sell them locally. www.apuasphereswim.com is their website.
