Hi

I

use “Lacrilube” in my eyes.  I started using it a few years after

my third surgery. I wish I had used it all the time. It is very comfortable and

means that I don’t suffer from any discomfort during the night.

If

what your daughter is using is just a lubricant (like mine, very pure paraffin)

why don’t you try using it in your own eyes to see what it feels like?

It

is especially good on flights – when it can be very dry in the plane, as

we all know.

The

best person to advise you from a medical perspective is your doctor or optometrist.

All I can say is that for me, I am very happy to use it.

Best

wishes

Subject: blepharophimosis does any one who knows about use oinment

hi,everyone:

my daughter had BPES, she had

done the second surgery on october 2009. It has been half a year

since she's second surgery. She recover very well. After the second

surgery, every night before she sleep ,she used oinment to her eyes.

Because the doctor said her eyes cannot colse well ,the oinment

can help protecting the eyes. And the doctor suggests she

can stop using the oinment when she feel ok,but the doctor did not give the

exactly timetable.

so i am worry about when

could she stop uesing oinment. We live in beijing, the

weather here is dry . Does anyone has the experience for using

oinment after the second surgery. how long for you useing the oinment?

what brand or what kind of oinment do you use?

Hi ,

We use Genteal PM, GenTeal Gel drops, and GenTeal Severe Lubricant Gel. We used to use only the PM and the Gel Drops, twice a day. Our doctor has since informed us that we need to use them all more often than that. I don't know how old your daughter is, but mine is 2, almost 3. I've gotten her to tell me when her eyes itch or burn. From what I have learned on here and personal experience, the gel is better than the drops. Catalina is listed in the pictures. Hope this helps.

Always,

Ann

We did use antibiotic ointments in 's eyes after his surgery and have since switched to Lacrilube but there are a couple brands that do the same thing. It's like an artificial tear in an ointment form. We really only use this at night since his surgeon says that it can blur the vision a bit. During the day we use artificial tears as needed for a lubricant.

Hope this helps! Best of luck!

We also used antibiotic ointments after surgery until our dr advised us that we could stop and switched over to the over-the-counter Genteal PM Severe Dry eye ointment. We use it in the evening before bed and in the morning to lubricate the eyes. It's become such a "routine" thing for (age 3) that it's almost like brushing his teeth. has had cornea dryness at his check-ups so we are hoping to combat any more dryness by using the ointment. Hope this helps and I'm sure your doctor will have advice also. --Anne Weber-- Chicago, IL USAFrom: Heidi Dembowski <heididembowski@...>blepharophimosis Sent: Thu, June 10, 2010 9:54:02 AMSubject: Re: blepharophimosis does any one who knows about use oinment

We are also in Beijing, and also have a daughter with BPES! Please feel to write me should you wish to get in touch. My daughter Leah is 7 years old now, and had surgery when she was 5.

and Micah,

My 8-month old daughter has BPES and she had her sling surgery a couple of

months ago. I originally came from Beijing and still have a lot of family

members there. If you don't mind, could you tell me where your daughters had the

surgeries done? We live in NC (USA), but I've heard a clinic in Beijing that has

a few good doctors doing this (they have a lot of experience just because

they've seen many more cases there. The surgeon we have here is great but even

he only does one such surgery a couple of months). I'm thinking ahead where to

get her second surgery (to open her inner corner of the eyes) done. You can also

send me emails. Thanks a lot!

Because the doctor said her eyes cannot colse well ,the oinment

can help  protecting the eyes. And the doctor suggests she can stop using the
