Guest guest
Hi Maeve My son Aedan had his lids lifted as a baby, the only scars were tiny under his eyebrows. He has worse scars on his legs now from scrapes from playing. He is going for a relift this June at age 8. In a message dated 4/21/2010 5:24:28 P.M. Well, hopefully seeing as this Volcanic Ash Cloud is affecting all flights in Northern Europe (Im from Ireland!).Anyway, I was wondering about scarring? Im getting the upper lid lifted, I think, sorry Im not great with details, but skin is being taken from my leg , Im sure most of you are aware of the operation. How was the scarring afterwards? I am really not looking forward to it, but I do have to take a tablet a week before the operation to reduce swelling, scarring etc. I was just wondering you know, being a teenage girl Im entitled to a bit of vanity! haha.Im really freaking out about this anyway, anyone else have this operation? Please, any kind of information on it would be AMAZING if you have any, there's not many people who understand this around here, less than 5 people in Ireland have BPES, 2 of them being me & my brother.Thank You :DLove Maeve
Guest guest
Hi Maeve, My daughter jessie, who is 5yrs old had the same op in October last year. It was a really good result for her. In terms of scarring she has healed really well. she has 3 little scars above each eyebrow but they are barely visible now. The scar on her leg from where they took the tendon is quite noticable but again has healed really well. ( it is on her upper thigh) I was really worried about this op but it has been fantastic for her and I promise you, it's nothing a bit of makeup can cover! Good luck and keep us posted x From: maeveokeefe <maeveokeefe@...>Subject: blepharophimosis Getting operation in May.blepharophimosis Received: Thursday, 22 April, 2010, 7:24 AM Hey Guys,Im Maeve, Im 15 and supposed to be getting an operation over in London late May. Guest guest
HI Maeve, I had my operations (same as you) at 14yrs old, at Moorfields, so completely get what you mean. (Im now older like over 40) are you having both ops or just one? muscle from the leg and the corner fold of skin bought in? The scarring is minimal. I have 3 indents in my forhead just above my eyebrows, after the muscle thingy, and for a few years if I pushed the corner of my eye in there was a little lump, with a small white scar on each corner. nothing that couldnt be covered with make up, looking now they are completely gone. The thing that did surprise me after my muscle op was there was bruising and swelling for a bit, dark galsses on! but it went quickly and there are so much better with things now, it may be that swelling and bruising isnt as much. My daughter had the op at 4 and had less than me. You are in good hands, and we dont even think about the scarring now, as it is so minimal. Good luck for May, you will be fine. I am close to London, so if you want to contact me directly please do. clareteale@,com email me and I will send over my other contact details.
