JorLeo,

Welcome to the group! You have definitely come to the right place for

support and motivation! Wow, two guys de-lurking in the same

week....we're on a roll here. It sounds like you have already had

great results in a very short amount of time! Congratulations! You

are wise not to measure your success by the scale! There will be so

many other ways for you to tell that you are succeeding! I am glad

that you have found us and am glad that we will be along for the ride

and get to hear all the wonderful progress that you are making, as well

as help keep you on track. Now, that you've given us the ok to scold

you when you start lurking....you better watch out. We'll be calling

out your name if we haven't heard for you every couple of days....LOL!

Good luck on your new journey! Just remember not to overdo it and to

have fun! I look forward to hearing more from you!

you motivated. I can't wait until my daughter starts taeboing with me

Hi Gail,

We are having a big party for the kids, is going to be with the entire

family from both sides and the close friends, that's the 18 but their

birthday is the 17 and that day only my parents, sister and brother with

their families we are singing to them Happy birthday, I do that since they

born. Adnd then on saturday is going to be at my sister house. The theme is

Toy Story 2. I send to make three cakes one with Woody and Buzz, the other

one with and the third one with the sheperd girl. We are having a

clown who is going to take care of the entire birthday party. my

husband is flying on friday and then on monday we all going back to MD. I

never thought is a lot of work organizing the first birthday for them but is

only once in life. And because we are not having more childrens. The next

ones are coming very simple. The sad thing I don't want to go back home. The

kids are having to much fun in here with their cousins, over MD. we don't

have family at all. When is Tara's birthday? Good luck with your

renovations. Take care.

Hi Katy,

Welcome to the list. My twins were born just about five years after yours.

Sara Rose, who has DS and , who does not, were born 11/17/94. At the

time, their older brother had just turned 4--now I have two five year olds

and a nine year old. How time flies. It sounds like things are going

well--I knew from amniocentisis that I would have twins and that our little

girl would have Down Syndrome. Sara was very healthy at birth, but has had a

lot of upper respiratory illness--sinus and ear infections. I think, through

a lot of research and trying everything, that we are better able to battle

them--not always having to use antibiotics and right now she is clear.

(Knock on Wood)!

We live in Sisters, Oregon and until this list, I knew of no one else who had

our situaiton. You will enjoy it so much.

Hi Katy,

My name is Diane and I have boy/girl twins also, and . has DS. I

just joined this list too. It is a great support. It is so reassuring to have

other families with similar situations. I also have an older child, Adam, he is

8, and has been a great big brother. We live in the Seattle area and have been

suprised by how many sets of twins are in this area alone, where one has DS.

Welcome! I know you will enjoy.

Hello Katy!

Congrats on the birth of your twins and welcome to the

list! I think you'll really like it here!

Your twins sound great! Tyler sounds like a real

miracle worker! I'm sure you are already counting your

blessings!

I'm the list owner, Sara. I'm a 20 year old premedical

student in Buffalo, NY. No kids yet... just an extreme

interest in Down syndrome. I have been working with

kids with DS since I was 14. , Judi, and

(who you will meet soon, I'm sure, and love!) really

inspired me to help bring parents of multiples

together and I never would have imagined that there

would be so many!! You, Katy, are the 54th member!

Wow!

Welcome to the list!

Hi Katy

My name is and I have twin boys born 2/15/93. n was born first at 5 lb 13 oz, Danny (who has Ds) was born at 6 lbs. I delivered at 37 weeks, no section. Easy delivery, rotten pregnancy. At 13 weeks an ultrasound showed the third baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks (I took Clomid one time) and that Danny probably had a genetic disorder. No amnio, though. So, when he was born I was not shocked. Danny spent four days in the ICU for wet lungs also, and jaundice, and feeding problems. He had a pinhole VSD which resolved on it's own. The first six months were toughest. It seems to get easier with time.

My boys are seven now, in kindergarten, in separate schools.

I love this list. You'll learn a lot, and have lots of people to talk to about things only we understand (I think). There's lots of moms with young babies like yours, so you're in the right place. I'm one of the "older" moms, my kids are a bit older than the others, so I am an o.k. resource for things like ear infections, tubes, adenoids, toilet training, stuff like that. Plus I've had a lot of time to come to terms with this unusual experience, so I have a lot of strength and perspective you can draw on.

I don't post everyday, but do read, and jump in when it strikes a note with me.

Good luck, look forward to your posts. Hope you love this great group of friends as I do...

Tyler spent a week in the NICU for wetlung and jaundice, the heart murmur and holes the doctors later for on an echo cardiogram were gone by 30 days. Tyler is in excellence health, he has had 1 cold, on the other hand my daughter has had an ear infection that took over a month to get rid of. I also have a 3 year old, both the 3 year old and Tyler's twin sister have been sick quite a bit. I just happen to find this sight by searching the internet. I am interested in talking with other parents who have multiples were one or more has DS. I live in Sterling, VA and

have been told that there are other families in the area.

Welcome Katy

My name is Pam Houser and I have twin girls with DS. They are 4 years old. We live in Tennessee. I also have two boys ages 13 and 18. I had the girls when I was 32 and was told they might have DS. I didn't have an amnio done for fear of miscarriage so I put it in the back of my mind and never thought anything else about it. They are so wonderful to be around(most of the time). lol. I love them to peices and can't imagine life without them. You found a great bunch of parents here and will get lots of info. and stories. You will also learn alot as we go along.

Again welcome to you and all your family.

Pam

Welcome Katy! You've found us! I would say you found an excellent

" support group " on the net! I'm Gail, I had my boy/girl twins last March

22{} and 23{Tara, Ds} they were term, {39 weeks} by " natural "

on Mon. night and Tara by section very early Tues. morning. was 6,

05 oz, and Tara was 6lbs, 12oz. I was 36 when I delivered, I too had

monthly ultrasounds, the babies were always neck and neck in their

measurments too and " they " never picked anything " up " with Tara either.

I also refused the amnio, so there was no need for an AFP to be done. At

birth, Tara was " failure to progress " with APGAR scores of 3, and 6 and

was shipped out to a more acute care hospital an hour away. She was in

their NICU just a week{lucky} and came home a day after and I did.

My twins are now 13 months, I'm very happy the first year is behind

me/us. My babies I would say on a whole are also enjoying good health.

is walking and Tara just started crawling last month. She waves

bye-bye, does " soo big " and peek-a-boo on command, clapps hands when

asked and occasionally signs for " more " , does some more things but that's

the highlights for now. My oldest is Bobby who is 6{and thinks he's a

Pokemon master!}then Jillian is 3 1/2{who enters the olympics every Mon

morning when she attends her gymnastics class!}and the " twins " and

Tara! I think I'm the resident depressed Mom in the group here, I try

not to be, I actually happen to be having a good day today as you can

see how much I'm typing{this is my cue to end now}

again.......Welcome!

Gail......from New Jersey{always feel like a beauty contestant when I

state where I'm from} hahaha
