Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar situation or knows what this could

be. My daughter is 10 months old now and had brow suspension surgery when she

was 10 weeks old. The surgeon put in silicon rods to hold her eyelids up for

now. He says this is just temporary. I have not had any problems until now.

Her right eyelid keeps looking really sore and gets a big spot (almost looks

like a boil) on it. It has bled once and seems to really bother her. I took

her back to the surgeon who told me he has only heard of this happening once

before and it may be an infection. This would mean removing the silicon rod on

the right eye and leaving it out for a while until the infection clears up

(which would mean her right eyelid would drop) and then putting the silicon rod

back in again.

I really don't want her to have any uneccessary operations and was wondering if

anyone knows what to do! She is due to have the inner corners of her eyes done

this year which I am prepared for but I'm not happy to have another 2 done as

well. I'm really scared because the surgeon has said that maybe it was a one

off and hopefully it won't happen again but unfortunately it has!

I put Chloropenicol eye ointment on at least 3 times a day and eye drops every 2

hours.

Also does anyone know if the weather may affect her eyes because this has only

started happening since the weather has become really hot. I asked the surgeon

this and he said this is not the case.

Any replies would be appreciated.

Thanks
