Guest guest
Hi all. I hope this holiday season finds you all healthy and happy. I came across something in recent news that I thought I might share with you all. It is a special, over-sized contact lens designed to hold extra eye lubricant. While I know not everyone with BPES can use contact lenses, for those that can and have dry-eye issues, this may be an option for you. Or for anyone in your families, BPES or not, that suffers from severe dry-eye. The contact lens has to be specially made for each individual to fit the eye. It was designed by doctors at Duke University here in the USA. It is called the Liquid Bandage. Here is the link to my local news station where I found this story. http://www.thedenverchannel.com/health/26002561/detail.html The email address at the bottom of the story is incorrect, and the phone number they provide goes directly to voicemail. I was, however, able to find a good phone number for the office. That number is 919-684-6920. I spoke with a very nice woman named Elaine in the office who had never heard of BPES. She was very helpful though and answered all of my questions to the best of her ability. I just wanted to let you all know about this new option. I completely understand that it is not an option for everyone, but if it helps anyone, I'm happy to share it.
