Guest guest
Hi Maxine, I work with social services people a lot ... I'm amazed at how much stress they are under!I'm curious as to what doctors believe entails "failing" methotrexate. My rheumy in NY told me that because my visible swelling decreased while on metho, it was working --- but I was still in pain and suffering with chronic fatigue and depression. She "reluctantly" let me try Enbrel then Remicade in May 2000 and it has worked great for me. Take care, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “The strongest oak of the forest is not the one that is protected from the storm and hidden from the sun. It's the one that stands in the open where it is compelled to struggle for existence against the winds and rains and the scorching sun.” (Napoleon Hill) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am on prednisone and methotrexate. >My rheumy has told me that I haven't failed MX yet so he is not ready >to try Remicade or Enbrel at this time. Also, my cardiologist told >me that he wants me to work part-time and not live the high stress >life I led before. Tired of spam? Get advanced junk mail protection with MSN 8. Guest guest
Hello , Thanks for your reply. I think my rheumy meant that if I don't go into a remission while on MX, he will try me on Enbrel. I had my first flare in May 2002 and went back to work in early August because the MX was working well. Then I had a relapse in late August 2002. This occurred after I developed internal bleeding complications from an angioplasty. Also, I had to stop the MX temporarily when my liver function tests were elevated. I am recovering from this bout, but not feeling great most of the time. I wish you well, Maxine
