Guest guest
Hi Nicola How are you? We live in Colchester now, we last saw you and Grace in 2006 in Harrogate. Kirsten had the same procedure at the LGI when she was 4 yrs old and Mr Smyth did the operation. It made a huge difference to her speech and I have no reservations recommending Mr Smyth. The staff at LGI were amazing. Kirsten stayed in hospital for 3 days and went back to school about 2 weeks post op. She had speech therapy for a year afterwards by the team from LGI. Catriona Hansen was her speech therapist. The surgery has honestly been a life saver because Kirsten had to rely on makaton sign language till she was 4 yrs old. She can now speak clearly, can be understood on the phone and by people she hasn't met. She is now assessed annually by the cleft palate team at Chelmsford which is our closest centre. I still have your home number and if it hasn't changed I will call you tonight. This is because air escapes through her nose when she speaks making her sound as if she has a cold. > Has anyone else had this surgery and if so how did it go? Mr Smyth, the consultant cleft palete surgeon at Leeds General, has operated on 2 other children who have blepharophimosis. > I would love to hear of your experiences as I am rather nervous about the surgery > Thanks > Nicola and Grace, Bradford, England >
