Guest guest
There is a woman (physician) in Toronto who may have a living ectopic pregnancy and may want a tubal/intrauterine embryo transfer. She would consider any other therapy unacceptable. I was told about this case last night by a priest here in California, who got a call from Toronto.Has any obgyn physician done this or practices in an institution where one could do this?I performed this procedure once but got permission from my department chair at the very last minute on an emergency basis with a phone call in the middle of the night. But if this had to go thru more normal channels in my hospital I don't think it would have been possible. The concept and transfer are experimental but the surgery not really experimental (salpingotomy and myotomy). Others I know have attempted this, namely Hilgers and Mark Stegman. Anyone else?I think it is the logical life-saving operation if it could ever work. There are two reported successful cases in the literature.I thought of Dr. Pivarunas in Buffalo and have a call in to him.It may turn out to be a false alarm as the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy is not certain at this time.
