My daughter had ops at age 4, and when we talk about it, the thing she remembers is the plasters and kind nurse. The parents are the one that feels it much more. The one thing I would say is something my mother in law told me, which has always stuck in my mind. Be loving but with a very matter of fact attitude, toward the whole situation, even though on the inside we are anything but. We are all thinking of you.
