Guest guest
Hi Gloria, I was on Enbrel for about 2 months in 2000. It helped reduce my swelling a good deal and it wasn't difficult at all to inject myself, once I did one or 2 shots. I ended up trying Remicade because that way I didn't have to revolve my live around shots (disposal, travel, etc.) Remicade has worked even better for me, without any side effects. I've been on it since May 2000. Hope that helps, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “The strongest oak of the forest is not the one that is protected from the storm and hidden from the sun. Guest guest
I have been on Enbrel for over a year now. Before I got on Enbrel I tried lots of less aggressive medicines like sulfsalazene (sp?), prednazone (sp?). They all helped the symptoms, for a while, but they did not stop the progression of the disease. After I got on Enbrel I noticed a difference within a couple of months. The first thing was a higher energy level, much higher. Second, I noticed a lot less pain. I felt so good that I had my doctor take x- rays to see the changes in my hands. He had never seen this before...the arthritis had actually reversed itself!!! The black spots where my bones were getting hollow filled back in!! Now, with that said let me also say it's not always so great. I still have bad days, sometimes bad weeks. Giving yourself a shot twice a week is not the most pleasant experience. Also, my progress is VERY rare, and it may not be permanent. It also helps that I was diagnosed pretty early in the disease. So, in my opinion: Enbrel is wonderful. One thing to remember, follow the instructions on the bottle. For the last few months I have been putting the liquid into the bottle too fast and the medicine would foam up. I'm paying for that now. I have swelling, pain and fatigue pretty bad. For the last couple of weeks I started injecting the liquid slowly and I have already noticed an improvement. Also, if you get sick with the flu, a cold or any other infection, tell your doctor immediatly. Enbrel can be dangerous if you continue to take it while you have another illness. Stick with it. You may not see any results for a few months, but that's ok. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Good luck!! Woody > My doctor just prescribed Enbrel to me.
