Hi Debbie

I saw you e-mail to Jerry the other day and wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and Tommy. He is going to have his labs this Wed right...the 16th......You will let us know what they are when you get the results....

When he goes for labs does he also see his doctors or just gets the labs done....If he is not seeing his doctors you should call before you go and tell them what is going on with Tommy....They may want to do some extra labs...might as well get it done at the same time....

Hope all is well and Tommy is feeling better soon...

Hi Debbie

I'm really sorry to hear about all your troubles. I'm new to the group my

daughter was diagnosed with AIH July/00. I just want to let you know that

you will be in our prayers. I know that money issues seem to make everything

worse but I hope you find a way thru.

Take care

I can't remember meeting her SJ. Maybe I missed one of her messages. Does anyone else's right side and back hurt after a shot ?? I been having this problem. Mostly it's my back. As soon as it feels a little better then I take a shot and it comes right back. Let me know okay??

Well, I think we all got dealt a joker in this hand!

But, as they say, we've gotta play the hands we're

dealt. So I'm working on my sleight of hand and

bluffing techniques.... -dz-

ps. Since you've already introduced us all to her, why

don't you invite her on board?

Debby, I really don't think you should quit your job, not as long as you feel like doing it and hopefully that will be forever. Your job seems to be what keeps you going. Please don't give up. You have a long way to go yet. It usually takes about 2 years for the dr.s the find the right combo of drugs for you to go into remission. It will happen.

Hey Debbie,

I didnt know you were from WV..... go to sburg when I want to get a "shopping in a mall fix".....LOL. We are in Green Bank. For those of you who are not from WV, the trip to the mall is a mere 2 hour one way trip for me..... but you what? I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Boy, this is beautiful country here. Having moved from Dallas to WV, I went from flat to mountains.... what a difference. And where we are, the closest traffic signal is 40 minutes away in Marlinton. I said good bye to traffic jams a long time ago and find that when I venture into bigger cities, I cannot wait to get home. (This from a person who lived in a city 16 years where the population of that city, Dallas, is twice the population of the entire state of WV).

Small world...

Hi Cheryl,

You and I did talk when you and Randy first moved to Green Bank. I'm

so glad to hear you like it. It is very beautiful there. I

graduated from WV Weslyan so I've spent a few years in Sunny Buck

(Buckhanon). I hope you've had a chance to go to the Forest

Festival in Elkins. It is such a beautiful time of year. I love the

mountains in the fall.

I'm going to be in sburg May 29 to June 5. It would be nice if

we could all meet somewhere. We can have a hillbilly picnic! :?)

Hi Luanne,

Yes, I take imuran too. I guess it would be a smart thing for me to

ask. I know he told me when he first gave it to me but I was having

a hard time remembering my name then. I will let you know. I need

to make myself a big poster to remind me to ask :?) Between the AIH,

diabetes, and OLD age I scare myself!

Hi Debbie

The grief exhaustion gets worse when you are tired and it becomes more

real. Also, all of the Mother's Day advertising is kind of rough.... Hang in

there and keep talking.

I went to a new Dr. this week. The first thing he said to me was you know

He

wanted to look at my records sent to him by my old physcian. He wrote my

that he feels that I do not have PBC. I am scared to trust him. He wanted

to take me off URSO. I did finally talk him into refilling my prescription.

He said my liver functions were going down so what ever I'm doing keep it

up.

I had to remind him of the URSO. I went to PCP because the OB/GYN wants to

do a total hystertomy. OB wants to check on other conditions before I have

surgery.

Can anyone give me advice about what to do with this Dr.? He came highly

recommended I was so disappointed.

Thanks Debbie in Louisville >>

Dear Debbie,

Wow, how awful! You definitely need somebody who has a sense of being

human! Straightforward is one thing, abusive is another! Keep asking

around. I asked some nurses who they would recommend and have been very

happy with their answers. You deserve someone you can work with and believe

in, there is too much at stake not to!

When one of the hepatologist's at the U of WA treated me like an idiot, I

immediately called my GI and my PCP. My GI called directly up there for me

and talked with the program director, needless to say I've been treated very

well since then!

Take care of yourself!

Here's what I wrote on this message board on May 17. If you go to the

messages section of the board and look at May 17-20, there

was a whole lot of discussion about muscle response testing.

Oh dear. This is one of those things that a lot of people think is really out

there. It's also called applied kinesiology. Basically, you hold a substance

you are testing for in one hand (say for example a supplement you're taking)

and hold the other arm straight out from your side. The person doing the

testing will then try to push your arm downwards. Depending on how easy or

how hard it is to push your arm down, you will then assume that your body

either really needs the substance, doesn't matter much one way or the other,

or definitely shouldn't be taking the substance. This is a pretty vague

definition. There are variations. We've had this done by several different

people and each has their own technique.

I'm don't use this technique as the " be all and end all " of testing. I just

use it as one more guide to help me.

Hi Debbie,

I have been very hesitant to call my rheumy's office, but every time I have

had to call they've been very nice and told me never to hesitate to call if

I have a new problem arise. I think you should give him a call, too. It

puts your mind at ease if nothing else.

Hope you feel better.

Hi Debbie...Just my 2 cents here : ) I think we most often hesitate too

much to call our doctors, not wanting to bother them, to our own

expense. Perhaps it's because with a chronic illness we are in pain so

often we subconsciously think we should just ride it out.

I say give him a call...perhaps you'll get to feeling better more

quickly which is what he and you both want. In any event, sometimes just

trying something different makes us feel more hopeful. I have a heck of

a time with this myself, and I can honestly say neither my doc nor his

medical assistant have EVER questioed my reason to call them.

Hope you feel better.

Tess/Debbie,

I find my rheumy and his staff are also very pleasant and very receptive to

any of my calls. Maybe it's because they are specialists in this field and

don't question the pain and problems the disease causes?

It's quite refreshing after having the pcp blow me off for 2 years!

I agree, if you are having problems, why keep them to yourself??

Luanne,

Thanks for the info. My doc has not mentioned this. I see him next week so I'm definitely going to mention to him.

I guess they almost lost my cousin this morning. Blood pressure and temp began to fall. Worried the body was shutting down. They've started her on prednisone. I'm not sure why. I think they're grasping at straws. Mean while we make down here, make plans for the funeral. I'm am so stressed. I don't know what to pray for. I just keep asking for God's will. It's really upsetting my entire family. Every time the phone rings I jump. My daughter has 2 pictures of them on her wall in her bedroom. They were taken 7 yrs. ago. They both have these big smiles. They're the ones the kids take in the booths at the mall. I scanned them on to my puter tonight. Maybe I'll just send them a long so people can put a face to their prayers. will be home this weekend and I can't wait to give her a big hug. I know this is hard on her. Their birthday's are just 5 days apart. is 2yrs older.

Have loads of fun with your daughter. I know how much you hate her coming home. LOL Just like me. Give Ty a hug for me. Ask him if he'll go back roading with his jeep for me. I'll close my eyes and pretend.

Lots of Love,

Debbie/FL

I've tried and tried to make the pictures small enough to send but just can't figure it out.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin. I know she was an inspiration and very special to all of you. Take time to remember those times that were especially "her" and talk about them, it keeps those memories alive and joyous when the pain fades.

Hugs to you!!!

Hi Debbie....

I am just getting around to reading and answering mail from the end of Aug.....

I had to go back and see what we were talking about.....ahhh...the Enbrel....you were going to see your doctor in a week...and you were going to mention it....what was the outcome of that.....

hope you are getting some help what ever it is....

The visit with my daughter over Labor Day weekend didn't end up to be what we had hoped....with Ty ending up in the hosp....and all...she did come out to the hosp but of course things were not the way we would have liked....won't see her now until Christmas.....

I am so sorry about ....I know how much she meant to you and your daughter....she certainly had so much to fight.....now she is out of pain ...finally....

take care and talk soon
