Wow, congrats Skip, you made me even feel better. I have had CML since 04. I

feel very sorry for anyone young that gets our disease simply because for

many(not all) of us have side effects from our medications that does change

our lives. Having said that, with the treatments available for us with CML

we can live a normal life span.

CML can change allot of things in the lives of those of us that have it. I

must have missed this initial message on how old your son is?

Regardless Skip is right there are allot of people within the group with a

well spring of knowledge on our disease. What are they treating him with? I

have been on 400mg of Gleevec since April 04, and even though I have

moderate side effects they are controled by other medications. Unfortunately

I am unable to work but I am on disability. It is not nearly what I was

making when I worked, (and believe it or not I miss working) but it is

better than nothing. I have been blessed by having family that help me out.

The worst part has been how it has hit my son.(He turned 15 yesterday) I

take him with me to doctor visits so he can see that his dad is not going

anywhere anytime soon. Skip when I tell him how long you have had CML that

will help allot. Even though my Doc has told him that the Gleevec is working

well for me he still worries allot. As Skip said keep us informed how he is

doing.
