Guest guest
I would look into the group more before I would give money. I know I had a smack in the face from the local Leukemia society. The stated they would donate $500 a year regardless of income toward expenses, but when I ask for help on paying for my annual bone marrow biopsy they said that is not covered. They would pay me for gas to go to the doc, or help cover trips to a doc or conference but do not help with the expense of a BMB. Needless to say I was ticked since that is my major expense, lucky for me my onco let's me pay so much toward my bill or I would be screwed. Guest guest
Dear Terry, Thanks for sharing your experience. I guess I shouldn't be shocked by that, but I am. You'd think an organization like that would be upfront, with some integrity. I will certainly be more careful about where I send donations. Thank you. Guest guest
Hi Tamara: Be careful no matter how destitute some of these organizations sound. ITs terrible how some are just scams to get your money, and they use things like Cancer to get you to donate. I have donated to many causes throughout the years, but now I check them out first. So many are not legitimate. Guest guest
I don't know about other states, but here in California the attorney general's office issues a list ranking nonprofits. It is available on the ag's website. From: suzzienovember@...
