Guest guest
Robin When first diagnosed (Aug 2007) so yes still new at the CML game. However looking back that seems such as long time ago. I was just looking in my diary - forgot how many blood tests I did have. Blood testing (often) - such as in the first month - nearly every 2nd to 3rd day After that time every week for another month Then every fortnight for 4 months My glivec dose was slowly increased from 100mg to 600mg (current and continual dose) and blood tests obviously showed response. Of course my blood testing - I was also visiting the haem and other specialists at the same time - for all sorts of issues and side effects. Then once my CML % was at CCR I had appointments and bloods every month Once PCRU I have bloods taken every 3 months (PCR testing and full bloods etc) Having said that - when I was in hospital for 6 days last year (now that also has gone quick) I would have bloods taken two times a day - and when I went home - I had bloods taken once a week for a month. At times when I have had a side effect that is unusual - or at the high scale of a side effect (Yes that is me - my body must be very sensitive) I will have further blood tests. However currently the normal is every 3 months PCR testing and full bloods this is from the Haem. My GP and Haem also have a care share arrangement - and at times my GP wants me also to have blood tests - so perhaps 5 times a year with the community GP who will send that info to my haem. Guest guest
Sue- Thanks for sharing. My Onc put me on 400 mg and said to come back in a mth. It seemed like once a wk. or every other week was the norm so I was interested in what other CML's had experienced.
