Guest guest
Dear Dory, We all have different issues to deal with and as you explained to us how you came to know what your strengths and weaknesses are, it's because you were interested enough in finding out what in truth was best for you. That's certainly to be applauded, because sometimes we don't get the support we need from people in healthcare. Sometimes I think I can go too far with my advice. I went to see about my sister yesterday and there was a gallon of distilled water on the cabinet. Right away I told her she shouldn't be drinking distilled water as it was too acidic and she babbled something, so I found some bottled water for her to drink. When her daughter came in, I again prattled off something about the gallon of distilled water. She said, " But Aunt Lottie, it's for her asthma nebulizer. " I went back to see about her today and there was no one there, all the lights were on and her breakfast was still on the table, so I knew that was not a good sign. I went to the front desk and inquired about her and they said she had gone to the hospital. I called the hospital and they are keeping her overnight and doing more testing. I thought she should have been there last night, but I think I had done enough with the distilled water and kept my mouth shut. Nothing I say to them about their mother's healthcare amounts to a hill of beans. I take grape seed extract, but I am not sure I should be taking it with the trial I am in. Some things are contraindicated. Most of the TKI's have the same warnings about what to avoid, but I have not seen that, so far. I have never heard of anyone relapsing so quickly on TKI's, but I suppose it is possible. I know when I stopped taking Hydrea for the washout period before taking Inteferon, my WBC escalated so much so quickly, they put me back on a double dose of Hydrea and I broke out in brown spots, and looked like I had reverse vitaligo. It's a known fact that Hydrea only controls the WBC and does nothing for the Ph chromosomes, so I can understand the quick escalation, but Gleevec actually kills the PH +. Fortunately for you this relapse was only temporary. Anyway, I am glad you found the article interesting and maybe some one else saw a light bulb go off. I think we all have digestive issues some or all of the time. I know I talk to my doctors about articles I read and even bring them a copy. I think they leave a lot to be desired if they don't listen to what their patients have to say. Sometimes it's time constraints. One specialist I see has the number of minutes alloted to a visit on my appointment slip. Stay well and keep warm in the midwest, DST is starting this weekend, so spring is near, Blessings, Lottie
