Guest guest
- If you provide Rod's last name and address, I'd consider it a privilege to send him a card. Perhaps others here will do the same. My heart goes out to you and your brother. You both will be in my prayers today. Rod is blessed to have a sister who loves him so much. Guest guest
Hi , There is a wonderful organization you may want to consider for your brother. They are www.chemoangels.com Support for People with Cancer Your brother will be assigned his own " Angel " who will send cards, gifts on a regular basis, and they also do " Special Assignments " where angels from all over the world send cards. I am on my third try at chemotherapy and have been supported by Chemoangels for each chemo. It is so uplifting to receive a note or card, and also to know that there are people all over the world praying for you. Take Care, Kathy O. Guest guest
Dear Peggy, Hoyt, , Bev, Kathy O., and others who are interested: What a great thing to come home to warm emails volunteering to send a card to Rod! Thank you VERY much for caring enough to ask for his information. It is: Rod Bater PMB#152 1737 Spring Arbor Road , Michigan 49203 Now let me update you, please. I spent the whole day up to the hospital with him today. This has been very difficult for all of us, especially Rod. He was very tearful and hopeless during the morning so they gave him something to help him rest and sleep after lunchtime. He received platelets, antibiotics, vioxx, tylenol, phenergan, and benadryl prior to the last part of his Mylotarg today, which they started the Mylotarg at 5:10pm EST. The side effects have already begun and have him very scared. He gets real cold and then shakes uncontrollably almost like convulsions. Last time they gave him Demerol for it. I hope and pray he'll be able to rest and be okay throughout the night. I just thought a bunch of cards and nice thoughts sent his way might be just what he needs. Thank you for being so caring to want to help with this. You're a great bunch! May God bless you and your family. Guest guest
Hi Lizzie, It is possible to be hypo with the TSH never going out of range if the pituitary doesn't respond to the lowering of the thyroid hormones, which is why it is essential to get the free T4 and free T3 tests done. See http://www.NPtech.co.uk to get these done privately. This is important especially as you have much hypo in the family. Some meds for hypertension such as betablockers can exacerbate hypo and are not recommended. Subject: My Brother Hi everyone I was just wanting a little help with my brother. myself, my sister and my mum are all diagnosed hypothyroid and are all on medication. For as long as I can remember my brother who is 39 has has symptoms of hypo mainly tired, lethargic, depressed and feeling cold, and also muscle aches and pains. He also suffers from hypertension his TSH was 2.56 in a range 0.05 - 4.0. I think he is hypothyroid however the lab did not do full tft's as they reported that he is probably euthyroid. Many thanks lizzie ------------------------------------ Messages are not a substitute for professional medical advice. Guest guest
Would you know anything about alpha blockers. I have to take alpha blockers because my top number is high but my bottom number is always low, and I was told alpha blockers just deal with the top number. Lilian Some meds for hypertensionsuch as betablockers can exacerbate hypo and are not recommended.

Betablockers ACE inhibitors calcium channel inhibitors, diuretics. Subject: Re: My Brother Would you know anything about alpha blockers. Guest guest
Hi lilian, Ah! I tried that one too- horrible! Sick dizzy sleepy also Ramipril just about as bad. I really don’t tolerate this class of meds well. I’m trying CO Q10 and niacin to try to get it down that way. I haven’t been back to surgery to do BP yet to see if it’s working, but my pulse is slower ,so that points to it doing something!! Subject: Re: My Brother Hi , It is called doxazosin.
