Guest guest
Hi Michele, Welcome to the group! When you feel a little more comforable, tell us about yourself. I have had RA just about all my life, having been finally diagnosed at 13, am now 40. Have since been diagnosed with severe spinal OA, fibromyalgia,reynauds,costochondritis/pleurisy, corpal tunnel, and tmj. Not doing to bad actually, after having suffered a terrible flare with a bacterial infection this winter. I've been doing pretty good on only methotrexate injections, folic acid, bextra & ultracet. Hope your having a pain-free day! God Bless, Barbara jessesgirl76 <jessesgirl76@...> wrote: Hello! I'm new to this group but not to RA. Guest guest
Hi - I can't answer your question, but I can offer you something that will. RISE Network has a Webinar each month on RA and related diseases such as Lupus. For November the title is " Ask the Experts " it will be at 8PM on the 10th of this month. Go to the site and sign up for either phone or internet participation ahead of time. I have only seen one of these- but it was worth the time ( one hour ) to get the info that I did. They are wonderful people! I suggest that you write down your specific questions for your Rheumy and then ASK him/her what and why. It is important to communicate with this disease to the most knowlegeable person to deal with these questions. Docs sometimes don't offer info to patients because they do not think that the info is wanted. Show your Doc that you are wanting to participate in your own health and if they are worth their fee- they will be happy to answer any questions you have. If not, get a new one. All Docs are NOT equal! Don't stop until you get the right one. I know I had to go to at least 15 before I found the right pain specialist for me. The rest just wanted to drug the crap out of me. Hope that helps you and several other people in this group-- in SC I have been diagnosed with RA but I have absolutely no symptoms at all. My RA screen was 253.6IU/ml. I have no idea what to expect. My doctor doesn't seem that concerned (shouldn't she be?)because there are no nodules and I have no joint pain at all. So, I thought I would join a group to try to learn more. Anyone have any advice for me? The RA web sites sound so dour, I just don't know what to think. F
Guest guest
, why did the doctor diagnose you with RA if you don't have any joint pain? Why did she do RA blood work? Or was this just a physical? By RA screen, what do you mean? Do you have a copy of the blood work? If so, what was the name of the particular blood test that you are referring to? We need more information in order to help you. This is a very supportive group of people, and , our moderator, keeps us informed by posting articles on lots of subjects that come up. Guest guest
Hi, . Welcome to the group. Are you seeing a rheumatologist? If not, please do. Another possibility is that you could have primary Sjogren's syndrome and not RA. Not an MD On Sat, Nov 6, 2010 at 11:24 AM, <nflom1@...> wrote: > Hi, thanks for your reply. I mentioned to her that I sometimes felt like an old woman when I would get off the couch after watching a movie for two hours, so she ordered some blood tests.
