A hiatal hernia is a weakening of the top of the stomach leading to the

esophagus. It can cause GERD or burning in the upper part of your stomach

or lower part of your esophagus. Gleevec does not cause it. You just may

have more heartburn as Gleevec is sometimes hard on the stomach

I have a hiatal hernia too -- I've had it since long before I was diagnosed with

CML. I take a Prilosec OTC every day and it more or less prevents the acid

reflux and heartburn . . . unless I do something really stupid like eat Indian

curry, in which case nothing can save me.
