Guest guest
Hello all, I was recently researching the effect the liver had on thyroid hormones (still trying to figure out how to resolve the hairloss issue) and discovered that a diseased liver could contribute to hypothyroidism stating that the liver converts T3 to T4 and this process becomes ineffective when the liver is diseased. I read this on the Merck website. It also stated that long term use of PTU can cause liver damage and the site named several other drugs. Thought the info may be useful to some. Couldn't determine if there was a link to hyperthyroidism and liver disease though. Deb
Guest guest
The Chinese Herbs I'm taking are for cleansing the liver. Most acupuncturists I have worked with have put their attention into dealing with my liver. Did you notice if Tapazol was on the list of medications that can cause liver problems? My endo said I had nothing to worry about. Esther

Guest guest
You can see why I'm promoting glutathione, the body's main antioxidant and liver support for stage 2 function...and I'm not alone. Doctors are using it. Check out Immunocal - glutathione producer in the body that dramatically lowers viral load. I've seen some of the 20,000 recent studies - it's the only food that's in the U.S. Physician's Desk Reference AND The Pharmacist's Red Book, and has a method of use patent on lowering HIV viral load and also tumours too. The book, " Breakthrough in Cell Defense " by Gustavo Bounous that says it all. The stuff even has serious anti-aging effect by reducing free radicals, the main cause of aging. Call 1-888-830-4040 for free pre-recorded information. There's 1.5 hours of description and doctors' testimonials on there. You will need a distributor contact to get the product. Guest guest
Hi Patty; <<What about those who have problems with casein, or dairy products--should we be concerned about a reaction to the base ingredient that this supplement is derived from?>> The documentation states that by far the most common allergies are to the casein or the fats in the cows milk. There are neither in the Immunocal, and it's diabetic safe. And the protein isolate is called HMS-90 in Canada because it's the isolate that closely resembles a human protein and is directly absorbable through the lumen of the small intestine. Cow's milk has predominantly large proteins but apparently this one's not so large. The main obstacle to some is that it's from exploited animal sources. ciao Duncan Crow --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
Hi , In my brain fogged state, I was having the same problem. It took me about ten minutes of back and forth and hunting around until I realized that I needed to scroll down on the page. Is it possible this is the same problem you are having? It really is a very helpful and informative article. Take care, Dawn M Dr Schaller,> >> > I clicked on the articles and it sent me right back to your web page.> >> > I'd love to read some.> >> > Thanks,> > Search on the go: Try Windows Live Search for Mobile beta http://www1.imagine-msn.com/minisites/mobile/Default.aspx?locale=en-us

Guest guest
Thanks Darlin. Eva XXOO From: Lottie Duthu Sent: Wednesday, March 11, 2009 1:18 PM CML Subject: [ ] Liver function Dear Eva, We have all been Fraidy Cats, and more than once. I know of several people who had problems with their liver, but they took several vacations and eventually got to PCRU, still on Gleevec. When I started the trial I am in, I had terrible hives in my face and upper body, stopped for 3 weeks at a time and would go back to my same dosage. I think your liver is just trying to get adjusted. If that doesn't work, there are other drugs they can put you on. I felt pain in my shin bones (tibia) before I got up this morning, and I said to myself, " Praise the Lord, it's working to kill the phillies. " We don't know exactly what these TKI's are doing all of the time and exactly how and where they work, but just imagine where we would all be without them. Just hang in there Eva, I look at it as though it were a giant overhaul of my body parts. LOL Blessings, Eva, that rainbow is just around the corner. Guest guest
Hi Eva: You have a lot of people who care about you on here, and it can be hard to think positive thoughts all the time. I do not think there is even one of us, who have not had days where we dwelled on the negative. Just remember that you have no concrete answers yet as to why the liver functions have elevated like this. Stopping the Gleevec was your first step to see what is going on with your liver. You are not alone. There always seems to be someone on here to answer or talk to you about whatever bothers you. When I was on Interferon and my liver functions went up. I do not remember my numbers, but they stopped the Interferon and combination of Ara-C to see if my liver would bounce back. IN the meantime I was being rushed into seeing all these specialists for a BMT. I was new to all of it, and went to all these consults. There was nothing else to offer me at that time. I thought BMT was my only choice, until I saw a doctor in New York. No hesitation, he said NO TRANSPLANT till we see what else we can do. Look for other options first. Guest guest
Hi Eva: I was under the same impression that you are, but also not everyone is the same. When I was doing the Interferon treatment and it started to destroy my liver, there was a elderly man who was on Interferon and he made me laugh. He loved it, and had no problem with it. He preferred to give himself the injection everyday, rather than take a simple pill everyday. We both had the same doctor, and even the doctor was amazed at how he could handle a stronger treatment and like it with no side effects. He finally went on the Gleevec, but I lost track of him. I have been curious as to how he is doing. So, just because this doctor thinks other meds might be harder on the liver for you, it is not necessarily true in all cases. Have you gotten other opinions at all?
