Guest guest
Regina & Group: Elliot had the shingles, which is like a relapse of chicken pox (typical in immunosuppresed kids). He was taken off all immunosuppresents (cyclosporine & methotrexate) but stayed on naprosyn and steroids. We gave him a drug (forget name) to minimize the chicken pox symtems, and after 2 weeks he was fine. (Elliot's been doing okay recently. We've been slowly tapering the steroids.) Best regards. Guest guest
My 6 yo daughter was recently exposed to chicken pox again, for the second time. The first time I intentionally exposed her to a child with chicken pox and she did not get it after playing with the child most of the day. In the recent exposure, her friend (who was vaccinated for CP) spent the night and they slept in the same bed. The next day her friend broke out with the pox. I was sure my daughter would get them this time, especially since her diet had been less than healthy for a few days before, but she did not. I'm now guessing that she may never get the chicken pox, even though she had a titre test done which showed she was not immune to chicken pox. What do you all think about this? This was surprising to me: The friend's 19 yo sister also got chicken pox for the second time. The 19 yo had a very bad case as a child, but still contracted it again as a teen. Guest guest
WOW Jane! Strong, healthy immune system? SUE
Guest guest
Yes, her immune system is absolutely amazing. She's never had anything in her six years except two high fevers that lasted about a day or two and clear runny noses that I'm not sure could even be considered colds. I mean nothing else; no ear infections, no viruses, nothing. And I have a ton of information on how to treat a child naturally and have all the remedies on hand, but have never had to use any of it! I've only had to clean up vomit once, when she ate something that wasn't right for her! She was in part-time daycare from age 6 months since I'm a single mom and this is supposed to be high risk for disease. I know that she was exposed to pertussis at 9 months and to chicken pox twice and who knows what else? She was also just exposed to hand, foot and mouth disease. When a parent tells me that their child is sick and Jenna is sure to get it, I just say, " Oh, well, we'll see. " I freaked out when she was exposed to pertussis as a baby, but don't worry about much anymore. At least I know that if she does ever get something like meningitis or pneumonia, she'll respond quickly to treatment. This is an unvaccinated child who was birthed at home, breastfed until age four, never given any antibiotics, tylenol or ANY pharmaceutical, just had one well-baby visit when I realised that was a farce, eats a mostly organic whole foods diet, except that she is a sugar addict! She is a very picky eater and would prefer to eat carbs and refined sugar all the time, so that is our main problem. I'm not trying to brag (well, maybe a little!), but I want people to know that a natural holistic lifestyle really does make a difference. She comes from a line of unhealthy people on both sides of her family, and I have immune problems myself, so I don't contribute her health to genetics. I often wonder what her health would be like if she was vaccinated with all the shots. Informing parents about how to raise healthy children is my passion and life's work. In addition to my newsletter and website, I'm am beginning to do classes in my area on how to strengthen a child's immune system, since I've done a lot of research on this. I'll also be doing classes on vaccines, environmental toxins, whole foods nutrition, and how to make peace with a picky eater while giving them healthy foods. I am beginning to write a book that informs parents of how the food, chemical, medical and pharmaceutical/vaccine industries, with the help of our government, distort research and deceive parents into consenting to harmful and damaging things to their children's health and well-being. Vaccines are only one horrific way in which our children's health is being damaged. Unfortunately, there is much more. Unless parents wake up to the truth that corporations and government only have power and money as the focus, and not the welfare of the people, especially children, the future of our planet is bleak. That's why I love this list - it's truly wonderful to read such awareness and see all the information being passed on. Guest guest
That is great to hear. My seven month old hasn't had any illness and I have been concerned that her immune system is not developing because it hasn't had anything to work with. Maybe her system is strong enough that she isn't contracting anything. Is that possible? She is also breast fed and non vaxed and is exposed to other babies and of course tons of germs. Guest guest
heehee cindy, congrats on getting them overwith (although many may not agree with me) incubation is 14-21 days from the day of breaking out. It's been my experience (although I have nothing to back this up lol) that the child that has the more consistent exposure (the siblings vs the friends) is the child that has a heavier case. BUT since you are nursing Hannah, it may be that she won't get them too badly or at all!!! Best Wishes
Guest guest
My younger son got the chicken pox while he was still nursing. It could have been due to the fact that his older brother got it, so his exposure was greater. Guest guest
Hi everybody! Just so I can help you understand what is available on my website, here is an example. If I type in " chickenpox " in the search box (not google, although it should be the same), I get 147 references (most should not be duplicates). If you practice using the search engine, and explore the site a bit, I think you'll find you can answer many of your questions on your own, as well as able to share what you've learned with others/us. The article Kathleen shared with us just now was put on the website in October. If it had not already been put there, I would have added it today - that's one of the major ways I get my news/information. So thanks, Kathleen! If you have any questions about how to use the site, I'll be happy to help. Guest guest
Hi Gill, here are some messages i received when i asked this question. good luck and take care. i think it is best to call your doctor. take care loes I went through the shingles this summer, on the left side of the back of my head, on my scalp. Drove me nuts for several weeks and missed 3-4 days of work due to the pain. Being on Prednisone and Imuran, the actual lesions weren't very remarkable and the doctor even questioned if it was shingles. But I know for sure it was. Took about 4-6 weeks to get over it which is quite a bit of time. I was on Valtrex for 5 days during the course of the illness, but I don't know if it helped. My two children came down with chicken pox while I was taking Prednisone/Imuran. My doctor was concerned about shingles because I had chicken pox as a child myself. Shingles is the adult, painful type of chicken pox. Luckily I didn't contract it. I think you should be in touch with your doctors.
