Hello

My name is nne and I live in West Hartford, CT with my

husband and our two kids Madeline(9) and (6). When Maddy

was about 9 months old, she started to spike high temps (104.9 was

the highest) which at first we thought was a reaction to teething.

The pediatrician would tell us that she just had an overly reactive

immune system and that this was normal for her. We would often bring

her in for a strep test which most times would be negative. I can't

tell you how many times we heard " It's just a virus. She'll be fine

in a couple of days " ! She would seem to react with a fever to a lot

of things like mosquito bites (which would get huge), too much sun, a

soccer injury, etc. The last couple of years have been the worst.

She has missed so much school! Her fevers are accompanied by severe

stomach pains, large canker sores, joint pain and a sore throat at

times. We have ruled out RA and other auto immune diseases. We have

not done any genetic testing. We were fortunate to see Dr. Henry

Feder at the CT Children's Medical Center last month where she was

(FINALLY) diagnosed with . She started the Prednisone last cycle

and her fever disappeared in 2 hours. I am aware that this decreases

the time in between episodes but I am hopeful that once we start the

cimetidine, things will stop. I don't know why we waited so long to

find an answer. We just thought her body over-reacted to things.I

would appreciate any input. I am glad to know that there are so many

others out there who have had to deal with the same things we have!

Thank you!

nne
