Guest guest
Hi , The FDA has a lengthy article on hand sanitizers and said basically the same thing. And, it should be ethyl alcohol. It is a New York Times article dated March 21, 2006 that states that in order for waterless hand sanitizers to work, the minimum alcohol needs to be between 60% and 95%! Apparantly, many are not. So, whether we are making it ourselves or buying it, this is something to look for! ..... that said, I wonder if that is true when we are using antibiotic, antiviral EOs like Tea Tree Oil, etc? Any thoughts on this? Thanks, www.BlueMountainBotanicals.com

Besides the fact that making something and claiming it kills germs makes it a medicine and subject to those rigorous standards, needing ethyl alcohol is a 2nd strike against making it for us homecrafters, at least to sell. I'm certainly no expert, but that's my reaction. Beth _www.soapandgarden.com_ (http://www.soapandgarden.com/) www.saponifier.com

Guest guest
Dear Suzzie, That is a very informative post warning that hand sanitizers are not safe for children. Not only could it make them drunk, but that is made from denatured alcohol, which is a poison. Thanks for the valuable information, I have grandchildren, so I will inform their mothers and I believe others will, too. Blessings, Lottie
