Our son (now 4) suffered with recurrent fevers which began when he was

about 18 months old. He was diagnosed at the University of Minnesota

and we followed all recommended treatments available at the time.

Prednisone worked amazingly well to drop the fever, but the fevers

cycled faster. We finally got completely desperate as the fevers were

cycling at 10-11 days. The amount of Tylenol and Motrin it required to

get the fevers down was ridiculous and we were becoming worried about

the effects of the drugs on his liver and kidneys. (Liver and kidneys

metabolize acetaminophen and ibuprofen) We finally brought our son to

a chiropractor/herbalist. We explained that we had a theory that the

Tylenol and Motrin were a part of the problem as we saw our son getting

sicker and sicker with each episode. After some thought the herbalist

agreed and began to treat our boy with chinese herbs to stimulate liver

and kidney function. The improvement in our sons health did not happen

overnight but was dramatic. In the last year we've seen only 2

episodes. Fevers now spike at 103 as opposed to 105.5. The episodes

last 1-1.5 days instead of 4-5. I don't want to get everyones hopes up

as I know how desperate you all are to find anything that helps, but

explore the herbal approach. It makes sense from a physiological

standpoint.
