Guest guest
Hi Sharon, Are your liver enzymes normal? If all your LFT's are normal, I'm not sure if there's anything to be concerned about. How large is it? Just slightly enlarged or " huge " ? I personally don't know anyone with CML who has reported an enlarged liver (at least not with normal LFT's) but that of course doesn't mean that it can't happen. Hope you get answers soon, Tracey > > Hello, > I was wondering if it is normal to have borderline Hepatomegaly with CML? Or caused by Gleevec? Had a Ct scan and it showed this and inflammatory changes of the abdomin.I also have had RNY and Lapband.I have been having pain and other symptoms as stated in previous posts.Still looking for the cause..CAme across this in my test results today with Primary Dr.Who always says everything is " fine " .I really dispise(sp) this word.ugh.. > Thanks for any help.. > SharonS >
Guest guest
Tracey, The CT scan said " Borderline Hepatomegaly..Didn't give measurements.I just had complete labs(15vials).Don't see LFT listed anywhere. If you tell me what test to look for I can give you a number but I don't know which tests are for liver. They checked for hepatitis but it was non reactive. I can tell you which test were abnormal. My Bun/Creatine ratio is high at 26,VitD,25Hydroxy 28.3 is low,TFR,solubale is low at 1.8, Triglycerides High at 157,LDL is low at 48,RBC is low at 3.68, Hematocrin is high at 104, RDW is low at 9.9. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, LFT stands for liver function tests which usually include AST, ALT, ALP, LD and Bilirubin. If all of those counts are normal, I'm not sure there's any reason to be concerned. The first sign of liver problems will show up with elevated enzymes. Hope you feel better soon, Tracey > > > > > > Hello, > > > I was wondering if it is normal to have borderline Hepatomegaly with CML? Or caused by Gleevec? Guest guest
I just seen a liver specialist yesterday. My first blood work showed positive for Hepatitis. The second test came back totally negative. She said it was a false positive. All of my liver stats were sky high. They are all back to normal after being off of Gleevec since Feb 19th. I see a leukemia specialist tomorrow but all my numbers look good and my WBC is still holding in the normal range. The liver specialist said this was totally Gleevec induced. Hope this helps you. Guest guest
Dear Sharon, How long have you had CML? I was told that sometimes the liver does become slightly enlarged. I believe the words were extramedullary hematopoiesis occuring in the spleen sometimes extends to the liver. This is why we lose weight in the beginning. If your WBC has been under control for sometime the swelling in both organs should be down. Lynn F.
