My name is and I live in Springville, Utah. My daughter

Emilia started getting fevers consistently at 9mo. She is now 29mo.

For the first year we heard it all, everything from strep throat

to " just a little virus " , to UTI's. Finally, after countless times of

pointless antibiotics I began to loose trust in the medical system so

we ditched the normal circle of doctors we ran in, and tried a few of

the holistic paths ( " witch doctors " as my husband calls them) but

thats another story for another group.

While searching periodic fevers on my own on the internet I ran

across and began looking more into it. I believe she has all

the classic symptoms. Right before she gets the fever she is fussy

and irritable then comes the high fevers and we rotate the tylenol

and Ibprofen. Throughout the 3-7 days she is extremely lethargic and

I have to beg, bribe and sometimes trick to get her to eat anything.

(she is almost 2 1/2 and weighs 22 pounds). Then before, during, and

after she has leg and joint pains. And of course we do it all over

again every 28 days(give or take a day sometimes). However, when she

is not fevering she is the most lovable, playful, full of life,

energetic little girl I know. She talks unbelievably well and non-

stop, she is not shy or timid, she loves to be outside and can run

for hours without stopping. Quite a difference from the little sick

girl who can't leave her mom's arms or sight.

We met recently with a Pediatric Infectious Disease doc who told us

our options were pretty simple. Start steroids or tough it out each

month. After learning that the steroids didn't always prevent it and

sometimes brought them on more frequently and the side effects were

currently unknown, we opted to just tough it out each month. And that

was it. He never asked us to follow up or keep searching for answers.

Now a little less than 2 years after she began fevering I have found

this GROUP (by accident). I have read and reread almost all of

your postings and I see now that we should have done more to rule out

other possiblities. So I come, humbly and ignorantly, looking for help

from the people who know best because they have had the hands on

experience.

I need to know what tests I should take my daughter to get. I also

want to know if any of your kids complain of a stomach ache?

Its so nice to have found you all and to know that we're really not

alone, that so many other parents know what it is like to be so

exhausted both physically and mentally.

Thank you all for taking the time to share your stories and

experiences so that the rest of us can learn from them.
