Guest guest
Dear Avis, Sorry no one answered your first post, you know sometimes we are asleep at the switch, so to speak. LOL Not everyone reads the posts every day because of poor health or a very busy schedule and sometimes it takes time to play catch up. How lucky your cousin is to have you to advocate for her. Some feel they are in a very good place and don't feel the need to read every edition any longer. Unintentionally you made me laugh. When I saw Dr. Talpaz before he left for Michigan, he asked who I wanted to take his place and I stated a preference for Dr. Kantajarian, as I had seen Cortes once. He asked why and I said, " Because he only gives you one minute. " His answer was , " Very well, I shall give you Kantajarian, and he will give you two. " We were both right. LOL You also stated that they didn't want your cousin to have Lasix at MDACC. I think that the doctors at MDACC might have the same commonality about Lasix theories. I reported that my pulmonologist said I had pleurial effusions in my left lung (always the troubled one) and they said taking Lasix would resort to other problems, like then having to take other medicines to counteract the symptoms. They stressed that in most cases when one medicine was prescribed, we would soon need another one to counteract the other one. In this case, you would probably have to be monitored for mineral deficiences in other areas. My internist went ahead and prescribed it anyway, as he said the lower the blood pressure, the longer the life. I do not take it every single day and most of the time take only 1/2 tab of the 20 mg. He doesn't have to know. Sometimes when we complain to our oncologist, we don't get a response, because it is not part of their disipline and would prefer you see another doctor. ly, I would rather have an oncologist who specializes in CML than one who dabbles in other fields, too. They ask about my complaints and then ask what my local doctor has to say about it. They will write a prescription for something that I have been taking, but nothing for a new ailment. Everything has its checks and balances and I prefer it that way. Sometimes it just saves me from having to see another doctor to get a renewal. If we don't answer immediately, shake our tree a little and you will get a reply, someone will respond, because we are a caring group. Blessings, Lottie
