Vomiting

Long story short, my son has been sick every other week since October. They

seemed like

episodes but he had an ear infection present all but one time. He'd start

off

vomiting, slight runny nose, holding his ear, then go into the fever and the

works. Other

than the holding his ear it all seemed the same as one of his traditional

episodes. The ID

on call though said infection present means it's not an episode. Also his

tonsils weren't

angry like an episode. So... we went with the virus/ear infection diagnosis.

They told us it

didn't sound like Cimetidine was working any more though so we stopped that

since he

was on a lot(Tylenol, Motrin, abx).

So, xmas eve through Friday he was hospitalized with pneumonia. My daughter was

also

hospitalized with RSV(cozy family xmas in the hospital... at least we all shared

a room).

My son was DEATHLY ill. With only a manageable fever he couldn't even hold up

his head

or keep his eyes focused. He underwent IV antibiotics and was released Friday.

He left

VERY cranky, but much better. That night he woke up screaming and vomiting. I

thought it

was a reaction to the antibiotics. Every day he got a bit better though.

Yesterday he

wouldn't really eat and said his tummy hurt. This AM he woke up crying and again

vomited. He behaved completely normal all day. Went to the ENT and no ear

infection. At

this point I don't know WHAT to think! Have an appt with our ped tomorrow. Just

needed

to vent. Guess there's something to be said about the predictability of a

episode.

Now I'm left wondering if he even has ... if he's picked up a new

condition... if it's

related to stopping the Cimetidine(which they've assured me no). I keep feeling

like they're

missing something.

So very frustrating!!! I just want him better. Hopefully 2009 has better things

in store! :)
