Guest guest
I remember those days.. All I wanted to do was sleep. On Tasigna I do not feel that way at all. I would like somebody to tell me how they get all their housework chores done without taking a nap. It gets me frustrated that I cannot do what I used to do. I plan out my day, and then I only get half of my things done. Just no energy. I am still trying to get the energy to do spring cleaning, and its almost summer. I am home, and not working anymore. I used to work, and come home and if the grass needed to be cut I would do that before I even made dinner. Do a few loads of laundry before bedtime. Weekends I would go like crazy with the cleaning, and I am not a fanatic housekeeper. I just like things done the way they need to be done. I just think sometimes, is it just me or is anyone else experiencing the same thing.
Guest guest
Suzzie, I think we all feel the fatigue at certain times in our life. I am on Gleevec 400 mgs, and last year I had insomnia. Could not sleep. If I slept, it would be maximum 3 or 4 hours per night. Then all day long I would feel tired. If I sat on the sofa, I would fall asleep. If I drove my kid to music lessons, I would then take a nap in the car, for 30 minutes. I would join my friends each month for nice dinners, then fall asleep, during the dinners. What I disliked the most was feeling cold, even in the heat of the Midwest Summers, I would wear a wool sweater. I never was without a coat or cover because I was so cold. In my house I wore polar-fleece slacks, and maybe a polar-fleece shirt. Lamb Sherling slippers. For housekeeping I hired a house keeping service, but at meal times I would buy and prepare rather early afternoon, so that at 4:PM, when my kids came back, there was dinner served at 4:30PM. I got smarter, and handed the kitchen duties to the kids, so I could go to bed. I would asked the kids to do my laundry, while I was preparing a dinner on the weekends. Guest guest
Stairs, ramps and up hills -- aaaarrgh! I feel like such a wimp! This is a really helpful post, Sue. I think I will print it out and post it on my fridge! Thanks, From: hollie@... Date: Sun, 24 May 2009 16:24:46 +0800 Subject: [ ] Housework and Fatigue Suzzie Use the Energy Bank criteria Too many withdrawals at the Energy Bank leaves you with fatigue You must make deposits - good food, heaps of rest, and exercise - if that just means walking a little way, fresh air. If you are tired no wonder - My specialist at one time said to me that the blood going around the body is like someone running a marathon - if not enough being made or compromised then you need to rest. It has only been in the last few months that I seem to be able to do more things - I joined a gym recently - previous to CML and glivec, I could do about 70 - 100 repo charge weight (Small weight lifts) - I could now do just 5 - but I was doing them Don't be too harsh on yourself If the house work is not done to perfection - who cares - that is not who you are - Do things the simple way My slow cooker has become my friend - I have three on the go all the time - just throw in meat and vegetables - you cannot overcook - early in the morning - and just let cook. for when you or family ready to serve I have one for meats, soup on the go, so older vegetables can be used, Throw washing on - if you can afford a clothes dryer then throw clothes in that to - just do very little amounts If you need to sleep - do so - presently I would say I sleep from fatigue about once per week when even last year I would of slept or rested days at a time - so things do improve What I cannot still do - is walk up stairs - or ramps - very odd Remember to do something for you every week that you enjoy Sue __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 4098 (20090522) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com

Guest guest
WOW! I was surprised to see so many posts. I think it was a good subject, and we have to just take a little of everyone's advice and see what works for us. I think everyone is dealing with fatigue for different reasons, low blood counts, anemia, depression, etc. I do not have any children at home. I will be 62 in Nov. I think my house is too big for me. I have Arthritis and then you cannot determine if its your Arthritis or CML most of the time. I have a lot of stairs in my house also. Its killing my knees. Then I go to take care of my 83 year old mothers house for her too, and unfortunately I do not get there as often as I would like. She does not live close by. I did enjoy the responses which were interesting to how each person handles the fatigue in a different way, especially those who still have small children to take care of. I did get a laugh regarding cleaning. I had a serviceman come to clean my furnace for the season. I said, you probably have been here before, so just go downstairs to the furnace. He said, I know I have not been here before because your house is too clean. That made me feel good. On that note, I am going to go finish cleaning my bedroom, that I started 3 hours ago because of taking breaks in between.
