Guest guest
I was on gleevec for about 8 months and I lost a lot of hair, all my eyebrows and eyelashes . But after stopping it everything came back but not as thick. Eyebrows are still thin and I still have a little thinning of my hair. I am on Tasigna. Gleevec was not kind to me at all. Because of some real real bad side effects, I had to go off it. That was back in 2004. Guest guest
My finger nails have these vertical striations. At some point, someplace, I read that this is a common symptom of leukemia. Hair -- !@#$%^ & !! First, it was coming out in gobs, which made me a little nervous but since I had enough on my head for five people it seemed imperceptible to others. After that first year or so on Gleevec, but has grown back in spades and has changed into a frizz mop. It used to be wavy, but is now wildly kinky, and thicker than ever. I look in the mirror and think, " Hmm ... who IS that? " From: hollie@... Guest guest
, I went to Sprycel. Was on it for three years. Still had some side affects but nothing I couldn't live with. Three years and then I got swollen lympth nodes, plural Efusion and a multitude of other problems. Went off Sprycel for 2 weeks and on to Tasigna and I have never felt so good in five years. The only side effect I have is weight gain. Gained 20 lbs but if I work on it (my diet) I can take some off.. And my hair thinned a little again but is now growing back. But I had no stomach problems like I did on Sprycel and Gleevec. I even forget that I have CML. And I have been PCRU for a year. You know I do not even know if I was PCRU while on Sprycel because they never did the PCR test on me. Just the BMB and I was always 0% on that... Guest guest
I did not know there was a right or wrong order in taking the medication. I think there are some out there that went from gleevec to Tasigna..isn't there? Guest guest
: I went straight from Gleevec to Tasigna, mostly because my numbers bounced around I really suffered with GI issues (nausea, vomitting, etc.) and Tasigna does not have GI issues. My Dr. really believes in a good QOL and thought Tasigna would be best. Unfortunately I am having BP issues so I am working hard to try and control my BP so I do not have to move to another drug. And yes I am refusing BP meds as my own sort of protest of " enough drugs " . Guest guest
I'm sleeping my dad-burned life away. My former doc kept saying, " Just be thankful you're alive. " Except I didn't really feel like I *was* totally alive. That sounds awfully cavalier when you think of what those who came before me had to endure in order to stay alive, and I feel like a rat for it. But if I could lessen the degree of fatigue I've had on Gleevec, I'd be very, very grateful. From: onthewtr@... Guest guest
Dear Karyn, While I was vacationing in Ottawa, Canada just this past March 2009, I visited in Montreal, Canada a health food store and purchased a product called: Herbal Glo, it contains natural nutrient and I purchased both shampoo's and hair conditioner. Witin 2 week, my entire hair thickened, and I now have volume back in my hair and lose much less! Go on www.herbalglo.com. It is expensive, but so is our hair! Guest guest
Granny's hair thinned really bad and it was upseting to her at first but now she has gotten used to it . We just found out today that she has to stop taking Gleevec until she sees the doctor on June 3rd. Her Platelet count was 1.05 and WBC is 2.9. Lottie tell me something. That's not too bad is it?
