use of steriod at fever onset

I did a search and did not find this. We have not gotten a true

diagnosis but Ava started with fever yesterday after 3 wks of being

healthy. The ID doc went ahead and wanted to try steriod so we gave it.

I SWORE they told me if it were the fever would go away with the

steriod...now today the medical assistant said it could take 3

days....well, then how would you know it's vs a virus which would

take a few days to run its course? She was only 101 most of the day and

was 103.2 at bed time. I know the don't always have to be high for

. I found out today two kids that were at her bday party on Sat

also came down with fever yesterday so I am convinced this is NOT

! Just wanted to see what normally happens after steroids are given
