Guest guest
Our son always fevered predictably on a 2 week cycle with a very few exceptions. His cycle started changing a little bit the last few months to going 3 weeks then a 1 weeker or just the opposite. We had his tonsils out on Aug 5th and no fever yet (close to what would be 3 now). Hope this info helps a little.
Guest guest
fevers every third Thursday. We did not realize that there was a cycle until I was submitting yet another leave request for work and found it odd that he was sick every month. Bizarre, yet also kind of good, because I could plan for this most recent cycle by working extra hours instead of having to use my leave. Always looking for silver lining, I suppose. Guest guest
When my daugter has a short cycle, the next cylcle is more severe. Has anyone noticed that? Casie
Guest guest
Absolutely! When would have a mild cycle the next week or so he would have a vicious attack. That is when he would have a completely wild fever that would be extremely difficult to control. Those episodes really are the worst and would be so hard on everyone bringing my son to such a low and making my husband and I worried sick. Mom2 Born 5/11/06 Fevering since 9mos T & A May 2008-fever free since and praying it will stay that way!
Guest guest
I have noticed in the past that if we have a not so bad episode the next one is usually a bad one. Is your daughter on prednisone? Since we started the steriods my son's episodes no longer last for days, but they do come closer together. I have also noticed the bigger the glands the worse the fever. Today we are due for a fever, the glands are swollen but no fever yet. We are having the T & A on Mon. so no motrin, which makes me very nervous. I do not want to give the steriod yet since he has a normal temp. Guest guest
Teagan is not on prednisone yet in part due to my hesitation to use it and mainly due to our infectious disease doctor wanting to have a concise three month documentation of her cycles and symptoms. He has seen many kids with this and many with other fever disorders and although he's convinced its , he wants to take a conservative approach. Now that two of you have mentioned it, Teagan's last episode was very mild so that we thought she might be out growing it. She's been fevering since Thursday morning and was vomiting most of last night and a little today. The side of her neck looks like a tumor due to her swollen gland. She's much more miserable this time. although motrin/tylenol are controlling the fever, they are not helping her feel better. Hopefully her next cycle will be milder. A good question was posed " how do you do it " . I try to remind myself that my daughter's syndrome is a mild inconvenience in comparison to what some other parents go through. I'm very ill myself this cycle with a sinus infection making those all nighters unbearable. I try to remind myself that she didn't ask for this and doesn't understand why she is so sick. I try to use it as bonding time to snuggle in front of cartoons that are usually prohibited in our house. Thanks for all the input on cycles!
