Guest guest
Hi all I was just curious if any one here has had to deal with Henoch-Schonlein Purpura? It is also known as HSP. It is a nasty rash that affects the lower extremities primarily. They are red marks that start out looking like hives and then turn into these nasty looking big red bumps that eventually bruise. It erupted after my daughter had a regular virus (yes- she actually caught a " real " virus). My rheumatologist seems to think that my daughter is just " unlucky " to have a periodic fever syndrome and then get this, that they are NOT related, but I thought I would throw it out there to this group since I know we have found some other odd similarities. I thought it was odd that she would end up with this because the other symptom is joint swelling and pain. Of course, she has that as well. If anyone has experienced this, just let me know! Thanks Lori Rodgers mom to 3 (fevering since around 9 months)
Guest guest
Are they even thinking about fmf or traps? I think they both can have a rash like that. ************** Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. Watch the video on AOL Home. Guest guest
Melody was just released from the hospital last Suday. She started out like someone else's situation, a regular fever episode. Then when it went beyond seven take her doctor said it loooked like strep and prscribed Amox. When it go even worse with red eyes and severly painful joints she was admited and thougnt to have kawasaki disease. Her Rheumatologist doesn't believe it was kawasaki disease but part of her FMF or a recation to the Amox. I saw all this to say that she also developed a rash all over her legs and then a nasty one in the diaper area. It has now peeled and I'm not sure if that is an indication of something else. Well I just wanted to put that out there in regards to being dianosed with something else right during an episode.
Guest guest
Hello, I haven't been on this group in awhile but saw your message about a rash. My son had a strange rash about a year ago, the doctors said it was called erythema multiforme, the diaper area was very bad as well. He was tested for FMF and came back negative for the most common DNA mutations....but I was told that doesn't mean he doesn't have a rare form of it. The rash was very bad, it started small and ended covering his entire body. His eyes were swollen and it even went into the scalp. Just wanted to let you know. Guest guest
Hi! I saw one of your prior posts about melody being heterogygus with FMF - did you do further testing to confirm the FMF? I am asking because my son was tested (5 main mutations for FMF were tested) and 1 came back heterozygus (carrier) but since he is having the fevers the doc is having the lab run a " Full Gene Sequencing " to look at all the mutations for FMF - apparantly there are over 100. Hopefully we will have an answer within the month. If it comes back neg they will continue testing for the other genetic disorders until we have an answer...I can't wait!
