Still needing a nap?

I feel like a have a new question everyday. Thank you all for your

prompt responses. Being a " new " mom to this is a little overwhelming.

So here it is. Gracie will be 5 at the end of this month and she still

needs a nap everyday. If she does not have at least an hour nap every

day she will have a complete meltdown by 5:00. Is this a symptom of

Pfapa? Or is that just her. My other two older kids were done with

naps by 3. She is my youngest (and last) and I know that I tend to

baby her a little, but the only time I really have problems with her is

if she dosen't get a nap. I am concerned about her starting

kindergaten next year because I don't know if she will be able to make

it through the day.

My daughter is 7 almost 8 and she was napping daily until Kindergarten.

When she went to kindergarten she still napped 3-4 days per week (all

day kindergarten). We would squeeze them in on Wednesdays because the

entire school gets out 1 hour early on Wednesday and Friday I rearranged

my work schedule going to work early so I could pick her up after school

and get her a nap. She would then nap on weekends as well. She will be 8

years old in March and she knows her body quite well and she tells me

when she needs a nap most of the time. She naps 2-3 days per week and

she is 8. I am not telling you this is typical but this is how my

daughter is. She had her tonsils out @ age 4 with relief from most

symptoms until 6 years old when we had a reoccurrence (no tonsil

regrowth). She now take Singulair 5mg daily , and Nexium 40mg daily. She

has not had any problems with cycling since August of this year (started

singulair in May).

When my son was in kindergarten he would go to club after class was over in

the morning, I would pick him up after I got off of work an hour later when I

walk in to get him over half of the kids would be asleep everyday. Shoot even I

try to take a nap during the day. maybe she has high energy and needs to

regroup for the rest of the day. i know it can't be anything with the blood or

they would of found it in the cbc. right. good luck char

I'm not sure if sleep habits are related to or not, but my

daughter seems to be the opposite. If my daughter takes more than a 2

hour nap - we are usually worried that she's about to get a fever. At

night she generally sleeps about 10 hours. She is 2.5 years old now.

However, since the T & A she has slept much better. She's about the same

for naps (about 1.5-2 hours), but at night she's slept 11-12 hours

several nights.

, I wouldn't worry about it and I'm pretty sure it's not related to .

I have 4 kids, ages 27 years, 22 years, 17 years and my baby is 15 years old!

They all have and have always had different sleep needs. The oldest (Christie)

gave up naps and didn't need them after one year. The second () napped up

until about second grade. Kindergarten here is only half days so she napped

every day after school. The third () gave up naps after 2 years and the

last one (PJ) napped through all of kindergarten!

Even as adults, we all have different requirements. Some of us need 9 hours

of sleep to feel fully rested and some need only 4 hours!
