Allergies to perfume and other fumes. can be a constant reminder of our

allergies. Why does the medical profession not mention this danger to those who

have asthma and allergies? It would certainly help us if this issue were dealt

with in a loud voice. Some doctor's offices do have signs to not use fragrences

for their appointments. Some people think more is better.

Dr. Corn: Many people with allergies and asthma - and even non-allergic or

asthmatic people - have difficulty tolerating the scent of fragrances and fumes.

The concept of fragrance intolerance should be disseminated to the general

public so that people think twice before spraying perfume and mingling with the

general public. Fortunately, there are many fragrance-free products on the

market, including shampoo, deodorant, soap and detergent. People don't have to

give up personal hygiene to avoid the disruptive smell of fragrances and

perfumes.

Mold produces microscopic fungal spores that can become airborne and trigger

allergic symptoms when inhaled. Indoors, mold can be found in damp basements,

bathrooms or areas that have been flooded. Mold can also be found outdoors in

grass, leaf piles, mulch or around mushrooms. Symptoms resulting from mold

include sneezing, runny nose, postnasal drip, itchy eyes, difficulty breathing,

skin rash and lethargy. I recommend continued cleanliness in the basement as

well as a dehumidifier, which can slow down the rate of mold growth.
