Guest guest
Hi all. I am posting the below email from one of my daughters in an effort to help her raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) which ultimately helps her sister. I am not fully sure if this is appropriate or not, but I figured it is worth a try. To anyone that thinks this is inappropriate I offer my most sincere apologies and would love to hear your comments in an effort for me to get a better understanding of what other people think about what I am doing here. Thank you, " Hey Family! I'm sending you all the link to the fundraising webpage I set up in 's Honor. I haven't even had it up a week and already have $540!!! Josh and I both need to raise $3,300 by August 4th in order to do the marathon in her honor (marathon is October 18). 75% of the money raised goes directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) who funded the clinical trials for the Gleevac she's now taking! They continue to fund clinical trials to find a cure-and that's the whole purpose of Josh and I doing this-to find a cure. Why? You may ask. Because I'm not satisfied with only have 2 options (Gleevac or transplant) for my sister. Josh and I really need your support and encouragement while we do this, as it's a pretty big task to raise almost 7k in a couple months. Save it as your home page so every time you open the internet you can track our progress. I love you all! You can just cut and paste one of the links below into your browsers address line. http://pages.teamintraining.org/los/nikesf09/shammer http://pages.teamintraining.org/los/nikesf09/jhammer EVERY donation helps!Raising money to find a cure for my sister's Leukemiahttp://pages.teamintraining.org/los/nikesf09/shammer "

It's helps the patient a lot when the whole family takes on the cause and focuses on getting the best of care and getting well. We have some CML members who also have run marathons or 1/2 marathons or bike rides to raise money. Virginia Garner is one of them. She was in the first Gleevec trial and has done great and has run several or many marathons and she also posts about her fund raising on the list. Best to your whole family, C. (a 10 year survivor)
