HI JEFF, I HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, BUT I AM NOT ON GLEEVEC. BUT WHEN I

WAS, I WAS ALLOWED TO TAKE A REG. ASPIRIN TO HELP BAD CIRCULATION.

EVERY DAY I TAKE: ARIAD DRUG, 15 MG, CRESTOR, POTASSIUM, 975 MG IRON,

TOPROL, 100, HYDROCHLORATHIAZICE 20 MG, ONE REG. ASPIRIN, TYLENOL 625 MG, 2,

FOR ARTHRITIS PAIN, IF NEEDED, AND EVERY OTHER DAY AN ALLOPURINOL. BLOOD

PRESSURE IS FINE. BOBBY

I have a med list that is longer than bobby's, and I take a regular 325mg

aspiran a day for part of my heart circulation problems. I was also approved by

my ONC to take Ibprofin instead of tylonol for my arthris because I use zocor as

well as 400mg of Gleevec. This is because the ONC does not want me place my

liver at risk because of the stress of too many drugs that are being processed

through it.

As always check with your ONC and follow his recommendations so that you aren't

at risk of reactions because of the combination of druga being prescribed for

you. Another good source is ask you pharmist because it's his job to be able to

tell you abour those combinations.

I have the privilige of knowing a young man that received his Dr. of

Pharmacology and have had several discussions with him. He has specialized in

the cancer drugs and is practicing at a teaching hospital in Alabama. I am not

bragging but only saying I was able to receive insight from a young man that

thought devoting his pharmicidal life to cancer was the best place for him to

be.

Granny has CML and has to take an aspirin a day because CML causes clotting.

aspirin nor tynenol because it will cause problem for blood clotting! I have

been recently diagnosed with high blood pressure

144/92,, not very high but high enough to be in the caution

zone!! I will begin watching my sodium intake as well

as bad fat, (red meat, pork..fried stuff..)! So is it

safe to take the low dose aspirin 81mg for us CMLers??

Symptoms of CML may include: malaise , low-grade fever , gout , increased

susceptibility to infections , anemia , and thrombocytopenia with easy bruising

(although an increased platelet count ( thrombocytosis ) may also occur in

CML). 

Granny's doctor has her on 1 aspirin daily for this reason. Tylenol can cause

liver problems though.

I'm in my mid fifties and need to stop being in denial

that I need a maintenance dose of aspirin to keep the old ticker healthy...
