Guest guest
Hi Everyone, this post has nothing at all to do with cml. Instead I want to tell you about a fund raiser my youngest daughter, Colleen and I went to last night. Colleen lost her 24 yr. old ex-marine March 3 of this year, mainly due to PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). There are a group of Marine bikers knows as the Leathernecks MC, who attended 's funeral. They did this because they are or were, all Marines. They came to his funeral and had a service, prayed for Jeff and played Taps. They told colleen they would stay in touch and they did, and invited us to their cook out last night, which is a fund raiser for helping families affected by those with PTSD. And what a great time we had. Tim, the main man, introduced us to all the others, men and women both, and then they had a short service where they presented Colleen with a lovely flag, with the Marine insignia on it, that they had sent to the base Jeff was stationed at, and many of his buddies signed it. Then all those Marines lined up and gave Colleen a great big hug, and said so many nice things to her, and it is unbelievable how wonderful they all were. it was like they threw this party just for Jeff. I always heard, once a Marine, always a Marine, but never realized until last night just what that meant. And I remember at the funeral for Jeff, we saw guys we never knew, but they were Marines, and they all said, this is what we do for a fellow Marine. How nice is that? I know this is a bit long of a post, and a bit teary, but I wanted everyone to know what these bikers do. If you're out and you see a bunch of bikers with Leathenecks MC on their jackets, give them a thumb's up for me, for colleen and for Jeff and all the other service men and women who come back so messed up in the head they don't know how to get on with their lives. Jeff's death was not a suicide, he did not think taking the pills the VA gave him with beer would kill him, but then Jeff wasn't thinking straight anymore anyway. So hat's off to the Leatherneck bikers club and what they are trying to achieve, I will love them forever. Bobby
