Guest guest
Hi Cha and all You asked about Hans....He isn't doing so well lately. We've decided, with the backing of the Education Department, the school and the specialist to home-school Hans as he just can't go to school enough to be assessed and is losing ground. He is really tired all the time now and the effort to get up early to catch the bus, the bus trip and the climbing 2 flights of stairs all day, with the usual school program etc is just too much for him. He was really crook during the holidays and just recovered before going back to school and on the first day back he got crook again......vomiting almost everything he eats. We are at the stage where I have to cook him separate meals if he eats anything at all (he no longer tolerates dishes he ate previously with no problem) and most of the time he will bring it back up during the night. We are due to see the gastro doctor on the 23rd of January but don't want to wait that long and have rung her. She said to do an abdominal ultra sound asap and to ring her back. That is scheduled for Monday. I think to get to the bottom of this we need to do the dreaded series of " scopies " as Heidi calls them. We really want to do that soon as it is just too painful to see your child like this and not be able to offer any help. I know you all understand. When I have some news I will let you know. Hans will be 13 in February and this has been going on just too long. Here's hoping for some long-awaited answers, Take care, Debbie, mum to Hans (almost 13) ?? Guest guest
Hi Melody and all Thanks once again for your input. Our situation is a little different as we live in France and really don't have a choice on curriculums etc. There is only one approved by the Ed. Dep't so we have to make do with that. My folks are coming from Australia for 3 months in May so although everything will be in French there still will be a presence there a lot of the time. Unfortunately my husbands folks live too far away to be able to help out. We will do this for 6 months hoping to find a solution to the present health problems in the mean time. He isn't really doing any sport at the moment as when he does he is just a mess afterwards - that is part of the reason we are keeping him home - so he can sleep and rest. This is also why we are hoping it is only temporary - it's as if his whole life (and ours at times) were on hold. Anyway we passed on the ultra sound results to the gastro doc today and are really hoping that when we see her next week she will have some ideas, at least about exploring a bit within her field. Up until now we were more involved with the rheumatology and neurology sides of things. To us it seems obvious that there is a digestive problem but doctors as we all know often don't see things the way parents do, or at least not within the same time-frame. But I think we are gradually getting there. Take care and I hope you can all benefit from Lori's wonderful work. There really are some " gems " out there. Debbie, mum to Hans - 13 years, ??
