Guest guest
Hi Guys, There always seems to be a lot of confusion over the use of Painkillers while taking Gleevec and I would like to put this qustion to you more experienced fellow CMLers. When I first started on Gleevec 800mg I suffered muscle cramps but as time went on the pains have almost gone away, but we all get headaches, and various other issues that require pain medication of some description. My specialist has checked the book of medications and does not seem to have any issue with me using Paracetamol, and there has been no effect on my liver so far, and my PCR's are excellent. On some of the other sites people have been told do not use Paracetamol but use Ibruprofen?? now my doctor says do not use Ibruprofen as this can cause breathing difficulties. I have checked Drugs.com for problems and nothing has come up. The only concern I am aware of is that they were concerned of the double whammy effect on the liver, so overtaxing it!! when I take Paracetamol I take my gleevec tablets and then wait at least 2-3 hours after before taking any, but as said so far no problems. I would be grateful for your opinions or experiences on this one. Best wishes Mark
Guest guest
I'm certainly no expert on medicine interactions but I can tell you that I've taken Gleevec with Percocet, Codiene, Vicodin, and a bunch of other pain killers (not all at once, after all I'm not Bobby Doyle)with no ill effects. In fact, after I had my kidney removed and was still in post-op I took a Gleevec tablet with morphine.
