Guest guest
Dear ,  I have not had a transplant either, but there are so many in this group that will be able to help you. You do not need to be afraid - God is watching out for you. I am sorry that the other medicines did not work for you. Keep your head up. I will pray for you to find the match you need.  God Bless, Jackie S. Guest guest
Hi :  I had CML and was diagniosed in 2005. I had issues with medication and couldn't tolerate it well plus I had two different mutations and eventually failed gleevec and spycel.  It came down to a transplant or blast and die from CML. I chose the transplant and was told as of yesterday I am in very solid remission and possibly cured of CML. I haven't tested positive for any signs of it since after the transplant in Feb. 2007.  I won't tell you it is an easy path. I was fortunate and had small bouts with GVHD and infections. It took almost a year for the new cells to come in and I am just getting back to work again. There are lots of complications with transplant. Go into this with your eyes open and as much knowledge you can get. Be aware of how difficult GVHD can get. You could swap one disease for another.  If I knew then what I know now, I would still go through it but it is a very difficult path with no promises at the end. My story is coming out on the good side of it, but realise that when you go into this you will be fighting for your life to get out of it.  You will need a very strong support system, you will be very sick for early stages of it, I wasn't ready for it financially, but survived it and actually kept my job. I decided not to base finances on my decision otherwise I would never be ready for it. I just went in wanting my life back. I did not want to die, I needed to see my daughter graduate from High School of May this year. I made it. I am living proof you can get through this.  Get all the information and be informed. Do what is right for you in your life. If you need any help at all or have questions you can write me at kidme2003@.... Also go to the BMT Chat room and join. It is like this CML Site it has people going through it or that have been through it willing to share information and support. You will be in my prayers.  Therese From: Fiol <rachel_art_design@...> Subject: [ ] Trans plant Date: Tuesday, March 31, 2009, 4:29 PM Hi everyone, I haven't written in a long time, due to all the complications from chemo. I am meeting with a transplant Dr. @ Jefferson who specializes in Half match transplants. This is my last choice and I am doing this because Gleevec has caused me to loose my vision and all sorts of other problems, i also have had problems W/ Tasigna & srycel...lucky me!!    I am now on Hydrea and it is not a long term chemo and it is not working so well either. I seem to have really bad side effects from these chemos and My Dr. says she has never seen anyone have so many and so severe side effects. I’m feeling pretty scared about the transplant and feel very alone. I would love some experience from those who have had one please!
