Guest guest
Liz, a couple of things you might try....i am not familiar with the spyware doctor program as I use adaware 6.0 . you can get that program off the the net at lavasoft.com also, how often are you defragmenting? if you use the net alot, i was told by our computer guy across the street to defragment once a week. also, check your temporary internet files and make sure they are deleted.....again another thing i do several times a week if i have been browsing alot. it is amazing how many you accumalate in a short period of time. run your virus scan and do a deep scan if it allows you. we have norton's so i am not familiar with your avg or how it works. make sure though it is checking every single file on your computer. we as well have broadband and we were advised to at least restart the computer every other to every 2 days. while it is on, make sure your virus scan is on and lock it if you can. norton's allows us to stop any traffic from coming through when we are not using the net. again, i am not sure what yours allows and doesn't. it almost sounds as if you are not defragging often enough or you have some spyware or something running in the background. good luck and let us know how it turns out! tracey > I have a slow computer at the moment. > > There is 57% space left, I have spyware doctor, registry mechanic, AVG virus checker and zone alarm which run OK. When I click on anything on the toolbar or the icon it takes a long time to go into anything, even word. I do leave the computer on all day as advised by the computer shop as I am on broadband, however I often have to restart the computer as I have to wait so long and the egg timer comes on screen. > > What can I do to rectify this? The programmes listed above are all paid for. I also have windows internet cleaner which I use and I have defragmented regularly. > > I look forward to any assistance. > > Thanks > > > Liz
Guest guest
Now that didn't take long. He reformatted the hard drive (whatever that may be) & cleaned everything up, installed my Panda Antivirus & some other cleaning stuff. I have no idea what he did - he told me everything but even if I wasn't in a fog most of the time I stilll wouldn't understand more than 1 word in 5. It works & that's the important thing SuZiesuzie <suzieandsandy@...> wrote: Hello All, My computer's having some problems so my computer guru is going to take it home & fix it (I hope) I won't be around for a few days - don't worry, I'll be back !! I have to reboot the harddrive which means I have to get the Windows CD for it and I'm at the library right now. I just got here today. Anyway, I'll try to get it back up and running in about a week. Guest guest
Oh well. I just have to go to dell and download the hardware that's better than it was 3 years ago. That's fine because it's free and my computer shall run faster. It's just a matter of time. VISIGOTH@... wrote: In a message dated 12/13/2006 2:52:41 P.M. Guest guest
The head honchos at groups put out a notice that this problem was some kind of temporary glitch in their system, hitting only some lists. They said they were 'working on it' hope that helps, Sharon Re: Computer Problems > Doug, how did you detect that your email has been hacked? Guest guest
Let's all say a prayer that Bobby can get her computer fixed before she leaves for Ann Arbor. She wouldn't be able to live without contact with the group. LOL We all want to keep in contact and wish her well, otherwise Ernie will have to be her bus boy for the duration of her stay. LOL Is that o.k. Ernie? Blessings, Lottie
