Guest guest
Hi: I had discussed this awhile back. I was diagnosed with a high PTH after seeing a new doctor. He saw that my Calcium was a high normal, and my phosphorus was low. I told him that my numbers are running like that since 1988, and no other doctor ever ran a PTH on me. Then I was sent for a Parathyroid Scan, to evaluate me for a adenoma on the thyroid. Nothing showed up, and my PTH has been fluctuating. I was sent for another scan, and that came back normal also. They sent me for a Bone Density Scan, and that came back normal. They mentioned doing exploratory surgery on me in case I have a benign tumor ( which is usually the case on Parathyroid). My Oncologist does not want me to have it. I went to see a specialist, and he said if I have had these abnormal numbers for over 20 years then why should we put me through something so intense. ITs a very delicate operation because your Parathyroid is right near your Voice Box. I went back to the doctor who wanted me to get this exploratory surgery, and told him he is the only one suggesting this. He said, then lets leave it alone and just keep checking your numbers. Last couple of PTH's were on high side, but not as high as they were. I also take nothing for it. If anyone suggests any type of surgery, do not rush into it is all I can say.
