Guest guest
Dear Sue, It's unfortunately true with Gleevec, the longer your on it the more paler one gets. It is as if the medication is bleaching out our skin. I use to wear light Grey which was in my palette of colors of clothing which I would wear all year long. Now, if I were to wear the color Grey with khaki, black, or red I look too washed out if I wear the color Grey whether it's on top or in slacks. The lighter we get, we must also remember our skin would burn, when one is out gardening on hot summer day. Now I buy straw hats with large brims to shade out the sun when I am gardening. I also changed the way I wear summer clothing, just so I will not get a sunburn if I take long walks with our family dog, or cycle with the kids, on a very sunny day. If I do not cover my face properly, I will have these dark blotchy areas over my face where the sun light made darken skin. It is strange. So, I cover up from head to toe! I buy and wear many different linen long sleeve shirts with cammies, or sleeveless shirt under the shirt or blouse. In the summer of the Midwest it can get very hot and humid. Even though my SUV has photo sensitive glass that prevents negative sunlight, I know my hands, and arms can get tan through the window if I am driving the kids everywhere in the summer before noon, on any given day. However, the rest of me is bleached white. I had moles before Gleevec, but had them removed. That was painful! So cover up the skin, as you become paler! I am going to a skin specialist in the next fortnight for him to see if they are anything sinister. Photos have been taken by GP and she cannot see anything amiss but thinks it is a pigment issue however as I am the only person of who clients who has CML and obviously on glivec she does not know so hence second opinion. Just my luck it will some sort of strange melanoma - or another type of skin reaction. So the question is: What is your experience if you have had any with moles etc changing colour to paler if your skin has also changed pigment Sue (Aussie)
