Guest guest
, my ANA was always negative from diagnoses in 1977 until just a couple of years ago. Then it came up positive and my doctor said it could change. I could be wrong but I think some research has said that Stills in not an autoimmune disease even though it malfunctions the immune system. Hope this helps any. Pattymelt positive ANA Hi all,Just wondering if anyone else here has a positive ANA factor? So I guess I'm wondering too since Stills is considered autoimmune, why would the ANA factor be negative? Thanks for any input. Buffalo, NY
Guest guest
Oh my goodness, I made a mistake with my post about this earlier. It was not an ANA that I tested positive for but rather my RA that had changed. I am so sorry. I sometimes get confused with all the terms and conditions we talk about. positive ANA
Guest guest
Thanks for the info, He was positive ANA but negative something else, sed rate ok... but was having muscle pain in extremeties... who knows... it is a roller coaster of not knowing , to knowing and so on and so forth... We are having the muscle biopsey done with the liver one, to get it all done together....that is our hope.... I am glad that another pedi parent has heard of this stuff.... I greatly apprectiate all ( who responded as well) help on this..... I thought I wasnt going to be stressy... but as time draws near I feel overwhelmingly incompetent , in knowledge as well as feelings... I will keep you posted... The drs. told us you can have a positive ana- but not have lupus or another autoimmune disorder- > > We have also been tested for mitochondrial disease-the testing was inconclusive-and I was not willing to put her through a muscle biopsy-they are very painful-and we would have had to pay a huge amount of out of pocket costs-as a " live " muscle biopsy is much more accurate than a frozen sample-and one of the few places set up for live testing is in Georgia and we are in Indiana. > > As for the whole mito thing-several of her levels were out of whack-but treatment wise it would not have changed anything we were already doing-so we dropped the issue. The dr basically said if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck it more than likely is a duck-but who knows for sure what is going on. > > Just thought I would let you know our positive ana experience. I also seem to remember that the whole lupus thing also had something to do with her sed rate-whatever-either way high or low one or the other (I seem to remember high) hers was-but not high enough-Lupus is a very difficult diagnosis to make-there are several things that have to be present and it kind of made me think it was more what the dr wanted to see-not really much they could truly test for- > > Becky in IN-mom to Maddie (age 9-now going into 4th grade!)-IgA def, low IgG and subclasses, nk cell defect-but still no need for IvIg, asthma, gerd, chronic constipation, mild cp, sleep issues..... > >

Guest guest
Hello all. My 8 yo daughter has been having fevers every 25 days for about 2 years. They present with body aches and nausea and last about 2-4 days. We finally got some extensive blood work done and today I found out she had a postive ANA result. This scares me as her father's sister has Lupus. They are doing further testing and we won't know more until Friday. Has anyone else had a postive ANA and if so, did the child have Lupus or an auto-immune disease? I know it doesn't always mean that, but with the symptoms and family history, I just dont know what to think. Thanks!
